I don't fancy the bare stainless look in the SIGs for some reason.

Sig did a limited run of the P220ST with a Nitron coat a while back for testing at some law enforcement agency. I can't remember what the details are at the moment but there should be more info at www.sigforum.com.

Why not just get a P220R, unless you want the heavier weight of the ST.

You can have your 220ST coated in Nitron at the factory as an option. Nitron is very very very very very hard.

I'll second the factory option. A fellow I work with sent in an older P220ST that had something wrong with the extractor. He wanted the gun in black while it was getting fixed and they were able to coat his. Not sure if it was Nitron, K-kote, etc. But it came out pretty nice.

I have shot my brother's standard 220, and it recoils a bit much for me for regular shooting sessions. I guess I'm a wuss who likes steel-framed .45s. :D

All good, I myself prefer steel framed .45's too. :D
