I know this just sounds like another thread asking wat ammo to use. As i am pretty new here and hav already decided to get a baby eagle. I read alot of past threads on baby eagle and learnt that sometimes, there would be a mag problem but other than that, its a fine gun.

The thing i am curious is why most people go for 9mm. 40S&W will generally hav more velocity and more powerful right?

More velocity in a given weight, not more velocity period.

Controlability, price, easy availability are reasons for the 9x19.
Really, for medium bore I prefer the 9x19. I have .45 ACPs if I want big and heavy. YMMV.

I bought my Baby Eagle in 9mm since it was my first gun - so far, it's been great. No mag problems either, though I use only the factory 15 rounders.

As stated already, for cheaper ammo and little recoil, go with the 9mm. But with the weight of the Baby Eagle, it should be able to handle the .40 or .45 without any issues at all.

Get the 9mm. As a new shooter practice is much more important than any slight terminal differences. Practice ammo is much cheaper for 9mm and hardly worth reloading unless you want a custom load. Baby eagles are nice pistols. You should enjoy it. Buy several factory mags when you can.

yea sure. i am already planning to get 1 mag and the baby eagle set at 9mm. Was about to get the 40S&W (love the power and recoil) version but after thinking alot, i agreed that 9mm is good enough for practice runs and its cheaper too...

I'll have to get a conversion kit to use the 40S&W right if i bought the 9mm?

From the Baby Eagle FAQ on Magnum Research website:

"Sorry, the Baby Eagle pistols in 9mm, .40S&W and .45ACP can not be converted between calibers due to the fact that each slide diameter is a different size. Yes, in the early 1990's there was a conversion kit for the 9mm to .41AE; this has not been available since the mid-90's."

sorry to bother your guys again. But given the choice, which grain of ammo for the 9mm would u pick?

147gr is listed as subsonic.

For serious use, I like heavy hollowpoints, but use the cheap stuff for practice.
