Who here has had a rather average experience in your local gun shop?

Well as the guy closest to me has shut his doors the experience is disappointing to say the least!

I have these experiences a lot. There are two types in my area.

1. Decent customer service (though with some dubious assertions from the sales staff), decent-looking shop, decent selection, bad prices. I mean, I guess I can't fault a gun shop for trying to make a profit, but I'm not about to snap up $1000 Bushmasters and $550 Springer GI 1911s. I mean, they could literally order these guns from other gun shops, mark them up 10% or 15%, and still end up with prices less than they have labeled. Haggling might mean a $10 or $20 break, but I dislike doing it.

2. The shops you can bargain down always muff up in the customer service department. While I was buying a gun there (because the price was a good $50 less than another shop), someone called and asked about a P3AT - he had gotten a price from Davidson's Gallery of Guns - $240. I thought to myself, "That's a fair price." The lady answering the phone was actually offended - she told him the price was actually $319. That same lady was also a stickler on my 4473 (saying I had to put both my home and my college addresses on there, which is patently false), and she was constantly leaving guns that she had taken out all over the place. Not horrible service, but definitely not up to par.

There's a big gun shop not too far from my place without a sign. If you don't know where it is, you'll never find it. Maybe it's supposed to be a secret.
