Trickyasafox--Congrats on being a 1K'er! As to SKS's, there was an ad for Yugo 59's in the latest Shotgun News. (Not being in the market I didn't pay it much attention, but it's in the SGN on the newsstands currently.)

Congratulations, and I think www.southernohiogun.com is still selling the Yugo M59s.

Looks like your are doing something else other than posting. Join date Dec 04 and in 15 months you only have 1,000 posts?

Congrats ;)

Out of curiosity, what are the differences between a 59 and a 59/66? Is a 59 devoid of all the toys the 59/66 has?

Dionysusigma--You got it right. The Yugo 59 is the "basic" SKS; looks much like a Russian or Romanian SKS. The 59/66 is the one with the gas tube cut-off, grenade sight and launcher.

Aside from that they are twins AFAIK.

Yugo SKS's are built a little heavier than other SKS's (Yugo ammo was hotter?) and the bores are not chrome-lined (Yugoslavia didn't have any chromium of its own, and didn't want to ask the USSR for any.)

Not having a chrome-lined bore doesn't matter if you never shoot corrosive ammo, and the lack of a chrome lining may contribute to accuracy.
