hey folks, I have a problem with my FN HP.
After cleaning the last time I shot my HP, I tested the safetyto be horrified that the gun actually released the hammer and hit the firing pin. The gun was put into "locked" mode (pushed the cocked hammer forward) but when I pulled the trigger it triggered the hammer.:what:

After looking at the safety, I tried rotating the safety release lever on the right side of the gun counter clockwise and that did the trick and made it so that the safety worked...I'm not pleased. Feeling like I should have gone with the Walther P99 I was drooling over.

Suggestions? Send it back to the factory?

I'd definately send it back to Browning, their service is supposed to be pretty good. Unfortunately I don't have any with the SFS so really can't offer any suggestions. If Steven Camp is online he may know of some tricks for it, or you might check his web sight to see if he has any insights on the system.

Maybe I am misunderstanding but isn't that what it's suppose to do? You push the hammer forward and then when you puller the trigger it fires.

When you pushed the hammer foreward ,, did the safety pop up as its supposed to ? Have to agree you need some body to double check it,

Naw, with the SFS, when the hammer is cocked you engage the safety by pushing the hammer back up. Once that is done its supposed to lock the trigger, slide, firing pin iirc.

yeah, I realised that I could kinda rotate the left safety lever counterclockwise because it was getting caught before the safety fully engaged and that would fix the problem....but I dont want a gun that has any problem with it.

BP I have the system from Cylinder and slide installed on one of mine ,, it sounds like the same system,,, on mine as you push the hammer foreward the safety levers pop up into place, then as you activate them normaly the hammer cocks back,,,,, it sounds like your system may not be installed from the factory quit right,, Hope you get it work,,,, realy like my set up,, it was good enouh to keep the brass off of my ass , while carrying the P-35

BHP40S&W, What Caused the SFS Problem in your Hi-power? Did you get a diagnosis from the factory? What did they do about it? I have one so I'm interested in your outcome. Thanks
