The issue of the next leader is already becoming entangled, before the process has even started. The various Islamic clerics are demanding that they and religion run the government. Many Iraqis (if I'm to believe the press) are saying that they would rather have Saddam and oppression than the temporary looting and lack of electricity that they have now.
Is it possible to bring people into the 21st century if they really want to live in the 13th?

Well, looks like the CIA's choice (Nizar Khazraji) was voted off the island on 04-14-03 by Shiites who wacked him on his way to the meeting of Iraqi dissident groups.
Strange...... I didn't hear anything about that incident until I read the article in the Christian Science Monitor.

Anyone who asserts that Iraq was better off with a murderous sociopath in charge is lacking in commonsense, to say the least.

So... who will be the new leader of Iraq?
Will he have problems if he approves the Mosul to Haifa pipeline?

Not sure that's the right question.
It seems to me that the nature, relative percentages and quality of the individuals that will people whatever will be the Iraqi legislature will put a bigger steer input into the success or failure of this country as it gets back on its feet.
The first exec or two is/are pretty much doomed to failure anyway. Even if we get "our pick" oor just a good person in general on the first cycle or two, if the Iraqi "Congress" is a bunch of radicals, Islamic fundamentalists and ex-Saddam lovers he will flop.

The next president, of Iraq will probably be George Bush.
He's already an oil barron, rich as hell, and in less than two years he'll be unemployed.
I figure he needs a country to boss arround, so he took Iraq for his kingdom.:fire:

El Tejon? He's fit, he's ready to rule, and he needs to get away.
"Shalalai, if George Bush calls, tell him it's fine by me to use Iraq as a duck blind to shoot New Barbary pirates. The sooner we start the better. Now, move my schedule 3 weeks as I'm off to the mountains to go hunting with all the members of THR."
