If there is no pic, at least be a bit more descriptive so we can imagine what it looks like a little better. :)

It does look a little deep, but it may have a deep crown.

I too don't understand this. What is placing a bullet in the barrel like that supposed to tell you?
Is it supposed to give you an idication as to how worn the barrel is?
As in if the lands are worn, the bullet slides in further?
If the lands are strong, you can't put it in very far?

Andy, you hit it right on the head. I suppose the reason the seller posted those pics is to show potential buyers just how worn the lands might be.

thank you got it,,,allthough it is not the best way to guage a barrel it may give you a idea of what shape it's in.

Too rich for me.

The bullet test is a bit pointless (no pun intended). You can get wildly different results with 2 cartridges out of the same box. The muzzle on that one looks doesn't look bad at all.
I would worry much more about that black spot above the clip latch. I'd like to see what the drawing number on the receiver is and get good pictures (in focus this time) of both sides.

Maybe its just me or my point of view from looking at the pictures or a trick of lighting, but the stock looks like it came off a HRA rifle by the looks of the long flat area behind the receiver.
would worry much more about that black spot above the clip latch.
Or even the gnarly looking line that extends from 2/3 back on the clip latch to the top of the receiver- again might be a /photography lighting thing where I'm seeing something that might not be there.

All that can be learned from sticking a cartridge bullet down into a muzzle is whether the shooter was careful while cleaning the rifle.
A dedicated muzzle guage is the only sure way to check muzzle wear and that still won't tell you anything about the actual bore.
An old shooters trick was to counterbore the muzzle for an inch or so into the bore and in diameters ranging from .005" to .1" depending on the diameter of the barrel.
You could ding the heck out of the muzzle and that counterbore would keep the dings from affecting the bullets flight in any way.

The cartidge used in the picture seems to have it's bullet seated deep with very little full bullet diameter sticking out past the mouth of the case. I say the rifling's still good.
