Anyone have some good sources for milsurp CP or artic tents? I'm hoping to buy one as a high-mountain shelter, with an obvious use as a Bug out or back yard emergency shelter.

Sportsman's Guide sometimes has surplus tents:

It seem that for the prices of RDD you could buy yourself a much better expedittion 4-season tent. Sprotsman's guide usually has one or two deals on quality tents. Just be carful in you rush to save money, I have had more than one cheep tent get flattend by high winds. It is not fun trying to re-pitch a tent in the middle of the night in the wind and the rain.

So be careful: if all you want is a backyard or carcamping tent, then cheep is fine. However, if you want something to keep you dry and warm in the mountains, it might be worth it to buy the highest quality that you can afford.

I've been around the block when it comes to camping, as well as with military gear. I've been in GP and CP tents with winds over 50mph, that I helped erect myself, with nary a problem.
That M-1950 is exactly what I'm looking for, time to start in on the old lady.
