My fiance is EXTREMELY recoil sensitive yet she enjoys shooting. She likes revolvers, she likes .22s. Due to her aversion to even my GP-100 with .38s, she doesn't shoot it that often. Because of this, I'm not very comfortable with her relying on that for defensive purposes. So to bridge the gap between the .22s she likes to fire, and the .38 which is my home defense load, I purchased a .22 magnum Taurus with 6.5" barrel. I went this route because she will shoot it frequently and therefore we can get some shot placement and for a little extra ooomph behind the round. I'm going to load it with 50 grain .22 mags. Even I'm a little sketchy about it, but a .22 mag in the hand is worth alot more than a .38 she won't shoot.

I want a holster for covering the trigger and speedloaders but am having a hard time finding any. I can't even find out if safariland makes speedloaders for it. Can someone help me out here? Thanks.

Edit:

Also, does anyone have any comments on my defensive load choice? Any recommendations?

This is the eight-shot gun? No, 7 shot.

In any case, I'll bet good money there are NO speedloaders made for it. Taurus is too stupid to make sure there's a source of speedloaders for all their guns - all it would take would be a joint marketing agreement with HKS or something but no, they're in the GUN business, not the self defense biz.

Morons.

Anyhow, you'll have to roll your own. One method: find some plastic tube that has the same diameter as a 22Mag shell. Cut it in 3" identical lengths, put black paint on the ends and stick the non-painted ends in the cylinder, then back that into a piece of wood so you know exactly where to drill the 7 holes for the 7 rounds. Presto. For home defense purposes (versus street carry) you've got a speedloader.

In ammo, you're in better shape. CCI MaxiMag +V-TNTs will pull 1,400fps from a 4" barrel (per NAA tests). Since they're doing 1,200 from a 2", figure you'll get at least 1,500fps and 1,600 isn't out of the question for a 6.5" barrel. Those will HURT. Probably at least as well as a decent 38spl snubbie load.
