Have you moved to get CCW?

I was born in Ohio. I moved to California in 1988 for the weather, mostly, and didn't think too much about gun rights. Somewhat careless on my part. In 1989, I had to get fingerprinted and background-checked to keep a carbine I had bought in Ohio and brought to CA
So, since I could move, I moved to Texas in 1999. I won't say that CCW was the only reason, but it was high on the list. Maybe we are in a period of migration during which those that love liberty will end up in freer states and those that favor state-provided security will move to other areas.
I know that it is hard to uproot, but how many of you have moved to a freer state?

Let's say I didn't stay in DC or Chicago because of it.

It was one of the top three reasons that we jumped across the river from Ohio.

Exercising my Second Amendment civil rights was by no means the only reason I left the People's Republic of California to return to the United States last year, but it was one of the top tier reasons.
I still miss the beaches and temperate climate of the San Francisco Bay area, but don't miss the taxes, the overcrowding, the illegal aliens, the criminals, the lack of representative government, the losses of my First and Fourth Amendment civil rights, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera.

My GF and I are planning to depart the (former) Great State of California this year.
The gun laws (and lack of CCW) are a major factor in that choice. The headlong slide into a third world socialist hell-hole complete with corrupt government at the highest levels is the other reason.
The State of Arizona deems us trustworthy enough to pack but the state that I live in and pay taxes to would consider us criminals if we took the unthinkable action of carrying our tools of self-defense.
We hope to be showing the State of California our south facing posteriors as we depart northbound later this year.

I didn't move for CCW per se, but when picking cities to consider moving to, no CCW could get a city removed from the list.

Yeah, in that 53 minute period between the thread being started and you posting this comment, we all had to report to our re-education center for an emergency indoctrination session.
CCW is obtainable is more counties than not - as long as you do not live in a big city.
We were seriously discussing moving to FL or maybe TX - we still might, but for the short term, we are going to move back to our home town where rent is less and CCW is available.
Wife is tore up over moving because baby loves her parents. The gun issue is pretty important, but it is only one piece of the puzzle - CA is in financial melt down right now. All our family is here, work is not - time will tell.

Dishonoring the right to keep and bear arms is a part of a larger set of problems namely a population that doesn't espouse accountability, self reliance and personal responsibility. It's also a symptom of a government that doesn't trust its law abiding citizens - a government who itself can't be trusted. And it's an indication of a mindset that fears the armed law abiding citizen more than rapists and murderers.
My choices are to move or to do something about it. Both are being seriously considered. Moving would certainly be easier.

CCW was in the top three reasons why Texas was chosen over California.
I imagined myself stripped of my fundamental human right to defend my family and myself ... and was sure that I would never be comfortable with that situation. Not to mention paying taxes to that group of thugs.

I left California to get away from the taxes, the crime, the crowding, the illegal aliens, and the in-your-face government that makes most things illegal and everything else mandatory. The CCW was a lagniappe. I take some satisfaction in knowing that I took a hell of a lot of money with me and that in my own small way I contributed to the economic meltdown of that state.

Presently live in the Orifice of Maryland. I have used Packing.org, along with the Newsweek Law School Rankings (for my wife), and the prevailing tax rates and crime stats, and a listing of all the district office locations for my employer and plugged it into MapPoint software to create a national map with each state rated.
The following states are a HELL NO:
California, District of Columbia, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Maryland, Wisconsin, and a couple of Midwest states I don't recall at the moment.
I'm pushing hard for Washington, Idaho, or Oregon out west or Vermont, or Pennsylvania in the NE, or anywhere down South.

It's not the main reason, but it's part of the reason I am leaving the PRK for PA in a few weeks.
I, like others, am tired of the taxes, asinine laws, INSANE living costs, etc.
I will miss the weather, the produce, the wine and cheese makers(I am a chef)...but the cons outweigh the pros...
I want to get a picture of me giving the welcome to CA sign the bird as I go.
