Watching last night wondering if "T" is ever going to snap out of a gun shot wound induced comma, and blew a gasket when Carmella (Tony's wife) starts in on "it took us too long but we finally got the message..I took all the guns out of the house....yadda, yadda" It goes on for about a minute.

In context, ok the "Skipper" got shot..she's reacting and it goes with the story line. However, it dwelled on a tad too long and smacked of Hollywood Anti-Gun.

And on one of my favorite shows! Bummer!

I figured "T" would get them all back in the house when he recovers. It looked to me like she was making excuses to the Dr. more than anything else.

I saw that too. Then I wasn't all that surprised - c'mon, it's HBO and the common mass media. What do you expect? It was offensive however that they made a direct assumption propergandizing that guns in the house is associated with family members shooting each other. Big piece of honking crap. My wife even tensed up on that bull too.

Soprano's is not really a mobster flick, it's more a soap opera with sharp edges. HBO does well at shows this way.

Anti gun messege from the Soprano's, that show should be a pro gun messege. Carry a gun to protect you from us. :) :D

...and smacked of Hollywood Anti-Gun.

Would you really expect anything else?

Ironic that it appears on "The Sopranos." Not surprised.

The gun related scene in that episode that struck me odd was when Tony's son was trying, and failed, to buy a gun to blow off Grandpa's head. For some reason I just figured he (the son) wouldn't have any problem in that department.

i really hope that you are kidding

you click on a thread about a tv show, and expect there to be nothing about the tv show in it?
specifically a thread on a anti-gun message & you don't expect it to be put into context?

/boggle

(not to mention that the "spoiler" was from the season opener, 3 weeks ago...

Posting *SPOILER ALERT* in the thread title or at the top of the message is a common courtesy a lot of people appreciate if the thread addresses key elements of a story line. I'm not a Sopranos fan (yet) so I have no dog in this particular fight, but it's a little annoying when there's a thread like "The guns of ____" or "Anti-gun lines from ____." It's safe to assume that one can address the topic without giving away key elements of the story line. If, however, that's not the case, the spoiler alert allows readers to file that thread away for future reading, especially since many of us buy the DVD's of a season rather than subscribe to cable.

I guess Carmella was OK with all those guns used to pay her bills over the years.

Funny how guns have helped pay the bills for both the show's Carmella and the actress playing her.

There's a gun in the show's logo AND theme song for goodness sake!

Screw 'em, Buncha spineless, weak pissants. Is there ANYONE in Hollywood that has any backbone? I mean besides Tom Selleck, and Charlton Heston of course.

I seem to recall that in one of the first episodes, Carmela investigates a noise outside Casa Soprano -- toting an AK-47 for "home protection". Maybe it's just her bad conscience catching up with her.

I didn't think the observation I provided was enough info to spoil a plot line, however.

FYI, the "spoiler" was from the third episode of the current new season.. not the first.

Off topic, watched "Titanic" again the other day. Thought it interesting and accurate (for Hollywood) that the big ship sank in 1912..and the bodyguard carried a 1911! Rest of handguns were wheels.
