Decent leather gun belt that won't break the bank?

Hey guys.

Need to get a "gun belt" for CCW purposes. The problem is, I refuse to pay $75+ for a belt! I don't care who made it or how nice it is, it's still just a belt and not worth that much $ to me. I also want something plain and basic... 1.5", black, leather, silver buckle. No fancy material or stitching. No gaudy or flashy buckle. Just a basic belt I can wear with a pair of jeans but strong enough to support a firearm. The closest thing I can find so far is here...

His Dual-Layer Bullhide Belts belt seem to be a good quality basic belt but at $70 + shipping, they are still more then I would like to pay. So come on guys, give me some leads to some more affordable options?

Rafter S Gunleather's belts start at $45. The only difference between their basic model and their more expensive versions is the exotic leather they use on the exterior of the expensive ones.

I have one in sharkskin that's over a year old and still holding everything fine. I'd expect the same out of their regular cowhide belt as well.

I have a Rafter S cowhide belt that I have worn every day for about 3yrs. Still looks brand new. I highly recommend Rafter S.

Another vote for Rafter S. I have two of their belts in sharkskin, one black, one brown--really kinda "cordavan". I wear the black almost every day. Great looking and comfortable. You can't go wrong.

I use the WSE buckle($34), demagnetized so a metal detector doesn't see it, and the 1 9/16" Garrison belt in black($20). I have worn it daily for 5+ years and it's still just as new. Also have another emergency backup weapon/knife that can be drawn in the blink of an eye if I need it.

You may not think a "belt" is worth it, but to me, the Bowen is more than just a belt.

A holster and a good gun belt is a must. I had a costume made gun-holster belt made for me in Scio, Oregon. The name of the company is A.E Nelson Leather Company www.nelsonleather.com. I had a piece of spring steel sewn into belt to make it so it will not turn or twist. The total cost of the belt was approximately $50.00 including shipping. In addition, I have never seen any other hand crafted; top quality belt offered for such a good price anywhere.

Aker B21's are great belts, I've got one I wear half the time. Double layer with a polymer insert. ~$35 from galls.com

+1 on the Aker B21. It looks like a plain leather belt with a silver belt buckle. I also wear mine even when I don't need a gun belt. The plastic insert keeps it from stretching over time which seems to be a problem with all-leather belts.

A local leather seller has leather by the pound. And buckles and punches. Doesn't take long to make a belt. :neener:

Another vote for Rafters S at $45. They are worth the extra money. Beautiful well made belt that will last a long time. I want to get one in Black now. I'll add a link later.

Tandy (1-888-407-9104) is offering economy double shoulders, 7 to 8 ounch leather, for $2.69 a square foot. You can buy a double shoulder, the punches, buckles and a belt cutting tool for about what that fancy belt is selling for -- and make a dozen or more belts yourself.
