Newsweeks website is running a poll on limmiting immigration. The "yes" for Limmiting is 81%,no is 16%,and don't know is 3%. The latter must be our Reps in Washington.:scrutiny:

We have something like 12,000,000 illegal immigrants that we "need", right?

How about this.

We deport them, and then we open 12,000,000 spots to people who want to immigrate legally. People all over the world are waiting to do the right thing. Let 12,000,000 of them in, prioritizing those who know English and will be least likely to end up on the dole. (That's what Canada and Australia do, BTW)

My parents came here legally many years ago. I still remember the party when they became citizens, along with a bunch of other people. I still have the little American flag I got that day, too. I think I was 7. Let people like them come here first. They WANT to be here and they WANT to embrace the positive things about our society.

I agree with Armed Bear. We should allow immigrants only if we have specific needs for their particular job skills that cannot be filled by people already here.

Get cracking on tha poll, folks, we're slipping. 6:29 p.m. and it's now down to 80% yes, 18% no, and 3% undecided. (Curious that it adds up to 101%, but I guess that's a rounding off error.)
