Just curious what the numbers look like around here. Thought a poll would allow folks to participate anonymously if they so choose.

2 here. 870, 500A

Started with an 870 and made it a combo, but sold the extra parts when they could fund almost a whole new shotgun.

I Found that I could load a Mossberg 500A much faster and I liked it better overall.

One 590 ghost ring 9-shot
One Browning Gold Fusion 12-ga
One Stoeger 20-ga break open single shot

All three get shot a lot. No problems from any of them and good performance from each one. I'd sell the 590 to help get a nice 870 w/ GR sights but the 590 just does everything pretty damn well. The Fusion is a dream.

I have only one. (See user name.)

I feel a need for only that one.

It feels good in my hands, all black & synth.

If I want, I can install different barrels for hunting,
but for now, that 18" suits me fine
for keeping an eye on the studio.

Recently, it donned a sling,
installed 'upside down' for African carry.

Now, said puppy mostly stays upstairs.
While downstairs, especially 'after hours',
I've got the 9 in an OWB.
It would allow getting to the 870P,
should I hear breaking glass or a door being busted.

Load? 00 RR.

It's enough.

Having owned over two dozen guns in the last 15 years I've made a conscious effort to thin the herd and upgrade. Here's where I ended up.

12 gauge o/u for clays
12 gauge semi-auto for waterfowl, back up clays gun and loaner if required.
12 gauge sxs for upland
28 gauge o/u for subgauge clays and back up for upland
12 gauge 870 with three barrels (14" 20" 28") for slug hunting, predator control and back up waterfowl gun.

Just one right now...Maverick 88 Have both the 28" modified choke and the 18-1/2" cylinder bore barrels. Usually it wears the short "Home & Land Security" barrel

But on the lookout for a short 'Coach Gun' with the big external 'dog ear' hammers. I'll find what I want in that fairly soon.

I currently own two shotguns:

Remington 11-87 which I use for trap and hunting.

Mossberg 590a1 for HD.

I am currently looking for a reasonably priced O/U for use on the trap range, but so far everything is much more expensive than I can swing, so the hunt continues.

ONly one but that may change. I have a mossy 590-a1 which is great with the slugs at the range. As accurate as all get out. I would love to fire some buck shot thru it but the indoor range obviously wont allow it. I would invest in an over and under for skeet or trap if need be, perhaps a red label.

Three, but I only bought one of 'em.

Winchester 1200 12ga pump. My HS graduation present from my dad. Well broke in when I bought it, talk about a slick action!

Remington 1100 12ga. Borrowed it from my grandfather when I joined a trap league. Made in their first year of production, and I was the first person to shoot it. 30" barrel with full choke. I bought a 28" skeet barrel for it last year to get me through my senior year of college. Given to me last year.

SKB 85TSS. 12 O/U, sporting clays model. Bought it on August 7 (an unfortunate coincidence that I bought a Japanese gun on the 60th anniversary of Hiroshima!). 2600 rounds since I bought it in '05. My favorite gun by far! I'm a fan of long barrels on a heavy gun, keeps my swing "honest" and harder to stop in mid air.

I think I need a Model 12, Model 31 and maybe even an 870. Oh, and a SxS. If I get another chance at a BT-99 I'll jump on that too.

I'm really having to deal with the problem of only owning 12 gauges. I used to blow the wind up the skirt of a friend of mine that had a 28 gauge. Now I want one, but I'd have to go back to him and eat some crow.

Like HSMITH - Around 14 or so.

My collection is pretty diverse and includes 12ga, 20ga, 28ga, 16ga and .410. About half are pumps, although there are several autoloaders and the two O/Us get shot more than anything else. The oldest of the bunch was made in 1922, while the youngest was purchased new last year. I try pretty hard to hunt and/or target shoot with all of them over the course of the year.

It's like a carpenter's toolbox. While there is some overlap there are times when each one is just perfect for the task at hand. It's funny... probably one of the most versatile guns in the inventory is a 20ga Benelli M1 Field... and it gets shot the least. I think it's because there are other guns which do specific things better and I've got a wide enough selection to choose something else.

Got enough that I've given some older ones away to my friends. I had an 1100, single shot 12 & 20, bolt 16 gauge. Gave them to guys for their kids to hunt with but couldn't afford to buy them guns. Still have some various old beaters, and my "real" ones are

Weatherby Orion II for clays
870 3" for deer, ducks
SP-10 10 gauge for turkeys, geese, and varmints (two and four legged)

for some reason, I just don't get the urge to have multiples of one gauge. In rifles and pistols I've got a variety of calibers, but having three different pump 12's doesn't appeal to me

...Duham's Sports "Special Hunter" combo...here's the stats

12 guage Mossberg 500; matte finish on receiver w/ black synthetic furniture; parkerized finish on barrels; 5-shot tube; 28" interchangable choke vented rib barrel w/ 2 bead sights; 24" rifled slug barrel w/ cantilever mount; BSA 2.5 X 20 Deerhunter shotgun scope w/ rings; modified choke; choke wrench; buttstock shim set; nylon military style sling

I added a used 24" smoothbore slug barrel w/ basic rifle sights and camo parkerized finish for $35.00; added more chokes: full, improved cylinder, x-full; 1 platform, many uses

Deer/Black Bear hunting: scoped rifled slug barrel & sabot slugs; if gun gets dropped, consider scope out of zero and change to smoothbore slug barrel & Forester style slugs

Small game & Turkey hunting: interchangable choke barrel w/ 4 chokes can cover alot of scenarios; X-full choke covers turkey

Defensive use: smoothbore slug barrel can be loaded with anything; 24" length is less than ideal, yet usable...

a good overall pakage that works for me

/*what I call "Mister Shottiewuffles" to piss off the grognards 'round her' what get their panties in a wad over words like "shottie".*/

...that would be me. It's a cultural thing, I guess. I never heard anyone who hunts or is serious about shotgun sports use the term "shottie". From what I see it is used mostly on Internet forums.

I could just picture the guys in the duckblind edging away from me if I called my shotgun a "shottie". Sort of like using saying "I have to go out back of the blind to take a pee pee", or "Stop the pickup next shelterbelt, I have to go tinkly." It just doesn't sound very manly, at least to we "grognards" here in the sticks.

Come to think of it, I never heard an adult use "grognard" either. Must be an age thing.

One stinkin more one as of this afternoon. :p
I was innocently walking by the line of shotties on the wall at my favorite gun shop after firing a couple hours on the indoor range. When out of the blue jumps this plain jane like new Ithaca 37 20 gauge plain bbl. Modified 28"!:uhoh: into my hands and swings up to my shoulder on the bull moose head on the wall.
Just a plain old 1957 Ithaca someone kept as new for 50 years waiting for me to relive my youth with that thin long sensous shiny blue barrel and the little corn cob and stock of that good old 50's reddish walnut.
Looks like a grouse gun if I ever saw one!

IMHO there's a big difference between owning 1 shotgun and 0 shotguns.. I wouldn't have lumped them into one category.

A life without a shotgun - at least one - is a life without soul.

IMO, of course.

YMMV.

Just the one, but it's a good one: Browning BPS, 28" barrel.

Why waste your time with that Remington crap? Big whoop, you have a mag extension. Learn to use your shotgun properly and you wouldn't need the extra shots.

(and I am very much just kidding with the preceding statements) :neener:

Benelli Nova 20 ga. (black)
Benelli Nova 12 ga. (camo, 26" barrel)
and the newest addition which I picked up on Friday...
Benelli M4 Tactical (love it so far!)

Guess this here is a Benelli household!

I don't currently have any but used to have a Remington 870 express and loved it. When I do get ready for another shotgun it will definitely be another Remington 870.

Ok. Update needed. About a week ago I bought an 8 shot Winchester 1300 Defender in excellent (really like new) for $190. I am afraid that this is going to start me down the road of wanting more and more shotties. This is sad considering the large variety of handguns and rifles on the market that I also want. :banghead:

Someone needs to explain to me why everyone on this post would list every gun they own and open it up to everyone. Nice database here for BATF, or Homeland Security officials, or Sky Marshalls, or potential gun thieves.

Why not just also tell us where you keep them and where you hide the key to your house.

I've only met one person on this list face to face and I trust him. I'm sure the rest of your guys (and ladies?) are great people but there might be someone looking for more information.

Not too long ago someone also asked how much ammo everyone kept at home. I was stunned at how many guys responded.

By the way, I don't have any guns or ammo.

There's something happening here,
What it is ain't exactly clear.
There's a man with a gun over there, telling me I've got to beware.
I think it's time we
stop, children, what's that sound,
everybody look, what's going down.

There's battle lines being drawn.
Nobody's right if everybody's wrong.
Young people speaking their minds are
are getting so much resistance from behind.

Time we stop, hey, what's that sound,
everybody look, what's going down.

What a field day for the heat. A thousand people in the street
singing songs and carrying signs, mostly say "hooray for our side."
It's time we stop, hey,
what's that sound,
everybody look, what's going down.

Paranoia strikes deep. Into your life it will creep.
It starts when you're always afraid.
Step outta line, the man come and take you away.

We better stop, hey, what's that sound, everybody look, what's going down.
We better stop, hey, what's that sound, everybody look, what's going down.
We better stop, hey, what's that sound, everybody look, what's going down.
We better stop, hey, what's that sound, everybody look, what's going down…

I own 6, all Remington 870's.

1 20ga Youth Express Magnum
1 12ga Police
1 12ga Magnum (former Police trade-in)
2 12ga Express Magnum's (26" and 28")
1 12ga EM AOW w/ 12" barrel

I technically own a seventh 870, but it's actually company-owned, and in the process of being turned into an AOW via ATF Form 2. Once completed, I'll be selling it.
