Interesting ... according to the BATFE's site the Bren Ten is a Curio
http://www.atf.gov/firearms/curios/0301to0603update.htm

It's also an expensive pistol! Still, if I had the money, and could find one, I'd buy it.

How can it be, when it's only 20 years old...and 1970's imports of various 9x18's aren't?
Wow. If I ever saw one for sale for a reasonable price, I'd sure go for it. Nice gun.

I see my grandfather's 2" Colt Marshall .38 is a Curio now as well.
I wonder if he'd get mad if I called him a relic. ;)

The ATF ruled that the Bren Ten is a Curio & Relic firearm because of it's scarcity and collector interest. There are a lot of "modern" firearms that are C&R eligible. The thing is, the ATF has to specifically rule that a firearm meets C&R eligibility and list it on the C&R list. It's not enough to be "collectible." The ATF has to actually list it by model name. (In some cases individual examples of guns are listed *by serial number* as being C&R guns. In that case it would only be those specific guns and not all guns of that model type.)
The exception is that firearms 50 years old or older are automatically granted C&R status without having to be listed. Aside from the "50 year rule" age is not a requirement for C&R status and just being "old" (but less than 50 years) does not automatically confer C&R status on a gun.
