For the life of me, I just don't get where you're supposed to put the gun so that it's concealed and comfortable. So let's see where you put yours!

I don't have any pics but put it between 3 and 4 o'clock if you are right handed. Move it around until it is comfortable. Pants/shorts should be about a size too big for you and make sure to wear an undershirt between you and the holster.

It takes some getting used to but eventually works well.

I sense a "butt" comment coming not counting this one.

Guns, knives, cigarettes, computers, and women. Why was I not invited?

The holster is a Highnoon Hidden Ally. When I wear a belt the clip is not as noticeable. The position is right behind my hip bone. If you carry like this make sure you have the extra room around your waist, this paticular pair of pants are a little tight. If the pants are a tight with the hoster in it gets uncomfortable real quick, but if there not I can wear it all day long and not notice. The rate I'm going I'm gona have to buy all new pant if I expect to carry this way, or just get off my butt and get some exercise.

The captions under the pictures read "now you see it-now you don't" it looked clearer when I had the pic in my picture editor.

We have the highest regard for Tam 'round here Gabe, and would never dream of picking on her...butt maybe not...

Back OT though, I also carry at about 3:30--I find it does a better job hiding the butt of the Ta...rather, weapon than sitting it at 3 proper.

Tam, I'm doin' all I can to stop this infantile behavior around here! My only regret is I have butt two hands to type with!

Now that's enough people, really. Grow up.

Ouch. I poked myself with my pen over here....'tis butt a scratch!

Tamara,

That looks like a Desantis Inner Piece... Am I correct? I had to resort a Cozy Partner for my Pro Carry because they don't make an Inner Piece for a 4" and wanted $50 additional to custom make one. Overall, I am very happy with their products and price point.

Some folks are able to comfortably carry IWB along the flanks (or love handles....) . Being as I have an abundace of flank, I move the peice to the small of my back and to the right (strong side) about 2 inches.

Sorry no pick. You dont want to see my flanks anyhow...

Selfdfenz:

You caught the gag in those pics :).

When I first posted those on TFL, the dang undies said "FTL" and somebody mentioned it was spelled wrong. So I went and photomanipulated the spelling :D.

Not bad, considering I used Windows Paint :neener:.

Very funny.
Didn't even occur to me that it was a touch up of FTL but then Tamara put a somewhat sober spin on the fact that it didn't stand for "Fighting To Legislate!"

OK enough undie's humor. That's because I can't think of a good joke right now! Look at the VM-2 photo and notice that there is a belt loop right under the handle, as there is on my Wild Bill's holster. When I sweep my hand in to make a fast grab on the butt (almost a joke here) I end up catching my fingers on the snap. Do other people have the same problem with a fast draw on this kind of holster?

Yes, that whole "rear J-hook or clip" thing needs to be re-thought.

If it's a clip, it's bulky or in the way. If it's a HOOK, when you get up out of a chair with a cloth back, you risk "snagging" the hook and ripping it off. That's why you sometimes see a "rear clip, front hook" - it's because they've run into that problem.

Which is why I'm now using a totally different rear..."thing". I don't quite know what to call it yet, but it's SLICK.

It looks a bit like this:

http://www.ninehundred.com/~equalccw/jimhook.gif

It's just a single strip of .090" kydex, folded twice - once to roll over the edge of the pants, and another "flat fold" forward to jam in UNDER a pants belt loop, while staying behind the belt. It's thus completely stealth, yet as you draw it holds the rear of the holster down by upwards pressure on the belt loop. The one shown is for right-hand use but lefty is no problem either.

I still use a J-hook up front, but this at the back solves all the problems: no bulk, completely invisible, can't snag, and holds the rear of the holster down firmly on draw.

I guess it's gonna be called a "Jim Hook". If anybody else wants to play with the concept, be my guest.

TonerGuy or Mr Longenecker,

I love the idea of a leather holster backing mixed with a kydex holster, just sounds comfortable and functional.

Looks good in the pics also, but you might try getting a female to models the warez from now on:p

Anyway, I would like to see you produce this holster to cover the entire slide of a 5 inch Govt sized 1911. I prefer to cover the entire slide to minimize scratches. But I understand why you cut it short (for all size 1911's).

Glockster35, You mean you don't line your jeans with lambs wool cushioning? Guess I'll have to talk to Tucker about your suggestion.

The question is: would we sell more holsters with the change you suggest? Wanna' be the first? :)

Tonerguy,

I'll be the first only if I get to have my pic on the webpage and posted all over the internet showing it off...NOT:p

I never looked at the price of the holster to begin with and honestly where I sit in life, right now wouldn't be good for me to make this purchase, as I still have a year before I will be parolled from Spangquintin!

It's a joke fellas!

I am stuck in a gun un-friendly country on Active Duty.

Tonerguy,

Any luck in making the holster cover the full slide on a 1911 model. I am still interested.

I haven't got a pic at the moment, but I'll see what I can come up with...

Untill I get the pic, I'll just tell you what I carry and how. I carry a Makarov at about 9:30. I like to carry cross draw for a number of reasons.

#1: I don't know why but it seems more comfortable

#2: Makes it easy to draw while sitting down

#3: Makes it much less difficult to draw with weak hand should my right hand become disabled for any reason.

I like this holster. Snapped a few quick pics. In a car I usually push the butt :D a little bit forward to make it comfortable. Or as comfortable as a hunk of metal IWB can be. That's my Browning Hi-Power. Cocked n' locked 15 round mag in.
