Oh yeah - had a really weird, nasty dream...

...over the holidays. And didn't get to mutter about it... So here goes...

I'm at a coffee shop (one of the beatnik-kinda-places), and my uberliberal (and I don't use that term lightly...) brother has entered. I've got to take him home. I walk through a plastic sheet wall (weird...), and try to get him to come home. He won't come. Kept at it. Finally he's coming. We're walking down the street to my car, and a smallish/rotund black female approaches, angling toward us between us and the vehicle. Mental alarm goes off, my hand goes in my pocket, and all that's there is my CRKT Crawford-Kasper. I look closer, and she's got a little pocket auto out. She's closer, and I pull the knife, but I'm moving WAY too slow, and she says something on the order of "not to bring a knife to a gunfight," fires, hitting me in the arm, passing through to thump my abdomen, doesn't feel debilitating, works the slide cuz she's shooting a piece of crap, and then I woke up before I could close...

Weird.

Sounds more like a Twilight Zone episode. Did you see Rod Serling anywhere?:D

I think that alot of us have had similar dreams such as this. I have heard other gunowners mention dreams where there firearms jammed, refused to fire, didn't cause any harm, were lost ect ect ect.

I recently had one too. About a week ago i dreamt that someone shot up my truck with a shotgun (when i was in it), but missed me. I met up with a detective, and we went to find the guy, we found him, and he had a sawed off 12ga, so the detective and i drew and i fired 8 rounds, with no effect on him. I did a reload, and was just about to shoot again when the BG looked at me and started laughing at me for carrying a .380. Then the detective started to tease me about my mouse gun.

Must be some sort of subconcious anxiety about our guns not working, or not having our guns, when we need them.

Hey Bogie...

I am going to take a stab at psychanalizing that dream episode.

You had to aid your semi competent liberal brother because he obviously doesn't have the sound judgement to get himself home. His reluctance in going just shows he didn't know how out of his depth he was. The plastic wall signifies the lack of influence the material world had on your trip. Your assailant signified how trouble comes in the oddest forms, yet still had a will to hurt you even though she was underarmed and not in fighting shape - probably armed with a minor caliber also. Although you were alert to the incomming danger, when you checked your status you found that you had only a knife in a gunfight, a cardinal sin. You were ready to challenge and overcome her lack of true preparedness, but the dream had already delivered it's lessons.

If you are the one people must depend on, you must be prepared to the level you know you can/should attain. Trouble comes in the most unlikely forms. People do depend on you even if they don't realize it. You were reminding yourself of this and chastizing yourself for not being as prepared as you know you should be.;)

That will be $100, come back next Friday.
