Anybody out there have any experience with this product?

I've heard some bad things about other "leather slick" treatments (collect dust and dirt......rust gun, etc.), so I'm a bit skeptical.

TIA! Don

I have yet to put anything on any of my my custom holsters dating back 20 years and all are just fine....

I bought a small container of Leather Lightning along with my first Rosen holster. When I put the gun in the holster, I couldn't remove it--the leather was that tight. Following directions, I let the gun sit in the "Lightning'ed" holster for a couple of days and everything was great.

I've since re-applied the stuff perhaps once or twice a year, and it helps. I've also used it on Galco and other leather holsters and it works the same.

After several years of applications, I'd think I would have seen some problems with the leather due to its use. Actually, I think Kiwi shoe polish is worse for leather than the Lightning stuff, because it contains alcohol.

Haven't used "Leather Lightning" so I can't comment. I have used Rusty Sherrick's "Hyde Glyde" and I think it is great for slicking up the inside of a holster or keeping the finish clean and protected. It will not harm your holster.

You can get it from Rusty or from Brownells at :

Very good stuff. :)

Just read MonkeyLeg's post again but put my name as author. I did the same to all my Rosen holsters. Never had any problems with dust or finish problems.

I got the itty bitty container of this stuff (Rosen Leather Lightening). Expensive for such a small amount. Or so I thought. Just a little dab is all it takes.

It REALLY slicks things up! I gave my hard-boned leather holster two treatments. Quite a difference.

I haven't tested it in sandy conditions. So don't know, if it tends to attract dust. But after treatment, the treated area feels dry to the touch. No greasy feel.

I'll keep you posted, but I'd give this stuff a thumbs up at this point in testing! :)

I'll vouch for it. All my leather is Rosen and all my Rosen Leather has been lightening'd. Great stuff!
