Why is my luck so bad?

I have to wonder aloud to my THR brothers and sisters why every time I decide to buy a new firearm, the model that I decide on vanishes from dealers everywhere?

I am looking for a Springfield Lightweight Loaded Champion (PX9149L), and after checking every website dealer I have ever used or know of, none are in stock anywhere that I can find and I'm going to have to pay $869.00 out the door for one from Gander Mountain that has to be shipped from out of state. As of Thursday, they had a total of 9 of this model between all of their stores.

Conversely, the Stainless model (PX9142L) is available on the internet for between $675 and $715 which is what the LW models were priced at on the web just last month (and add $50-60 for shipping and transfer and it comes out to $95-$145 more for one from Gander Mountain now).

Now I hear that SA's prices are going up and I am concerned that if I wait and don't get one from Gander Mtn for the $870, I'll end up paying near that much anyway when they become available on the internet channels after having waited instead of just buying now and getting what I want for the same or similar money (after figuring in the price increase).

Reminds of the time I decided an all German P99 would be my next gun, it was like they just all vanished and every dealer wanted to sell me an SW99 instead.

Does this happen to anyone else, or did I annoy the gun gods somehow in a former life? It's not like I voted for Kerry or anything. :banghead:

Normally with me, I will buy a gun only to have an "upgraded" model come out only weeks after and my "new" guns becomes discontinued so finding parts becomes a PITA. I leared from this to buy Super name brands and models (Rem 700, 1911, etc) that way you never get screwed, except with the Win 70!

Oh yeah, I forgot, something similar happened to me when I bought my Steyr M-9...they lost their factory 3 days after I bought it...not as bad as going belly-up or being discontinued, but it was cause for concern. This really doesn't happen to me with rifles as none of the gunshops near me carry the evil black rifles I like, and of those types of rifles (ARs, FALs, Aks etc...) the internet dealers are usually pretty well stocked up.
