CBS News Manages to Stoop Lower!

Guess which giant of journalism's been pegged to replace Dan Rather.

Hint: it has something to do with RKBA.

Please, don't leave us in the dark.

Katie Couric.

Maybe she's hiding something so she doesn't turn off Today's trailer park audience, but my impression of her is that she's as dumb as Rather is crazy.

April 4, 2006, 05:11 PM
She doesn't look half bad in a beret though. It might actually be worth watching her if you put her on 'mute.'

April 4, 2006, 05:13 PM
Another Katieism. About 4 months ago the Today show was running a show about child molesters, and at one point she said in effect that,-----you have to feel sorry for these men whocan't help but to have these urges.??????
It will be interesting to see how she does when she's alone on the news set without someone else to cover for her flubs. But that won't really bother me because I won't be watching CBS News.:fire:

April 4, 2006, 05:13 PM
I'd bet a coffee that she owns a gun though. She may be anti-gun for us, because we are the sheeple. But, I'll bet she has her dirty little secret tucked away, and loaded up with hollow-points.

Even with hiring Komrade Kouric, I am not sure that the

C ommunist
B roadcasting
S ystem

has gotten any lower...Komrades Kouric & Dan Blather are a pretty well matched pair of Looney Leftists

(Now, I gotta spend about 15 minutes hurling my dinner...)

I don't remember it exactly, but a statement from (IIRC) Ann Coulter was that she had not seen such a leftist love-fest since the Katie Couric-Hillary Klinton interview

April 4, 2006, 05:19 PM
Who cares?

Since the advent of the blogosphere and distributed news reporting and analysis, these people have had their powerbase continually eroded.

April 4, 2006, 05:36 PM

Actually, I'm happy about it. This will put another few nails in the coffin of MSM's retarded stepchild, TV news. No problem here.

I posted it not because it made me angry, but because it made me laugh. Couric will surely become a laughingstock.

April 4, 2006, 07:32 PM
Broadcast media is so last century. Who cares what CBS does? Even the advertisers are begining to consider abandoning the networks.

Doesn't look bad in a beret? Then a beret would make an ice burg or attacking bear look good?

The only time I bothered watching was when she interviewed Ann Coulter. Fur flew and claws flashed. Hoo boy what a treat.

The media is a model of fair and balanced reporting and reporters have the ethics of saints. Don't believe me, read this thread:

April 5, 2006, 10:44 AM
once in a while, now that Blather is gone. They have been pretty netural as of late. One time I was watching komrade katie pound her fist on the desk and shouting that no one should have guns except the police. I haven't watched her since and it has been a long time. I sent an email to CBS saying if that is the best they could come up with a news anchor, I will watch some other news program. Of course, CBS doesn't give a hoot about some hick in Texas.......chris3

April 5, 2006, 11:26 AM
I haven't watched CBS national news programming in oh, about 5 years now.

No news, no "60 Minutes" no morning show (I don't even remember what the CBS morning show is called any more) no other news magazines, nothing.

The only CBS news I watch is local, and then mostly for the weather reports.

April 5, 2006, 11:40 AM
Not gunna watch.
Haven't watched for two decades.
Not gunna happen.
Life is too short to watch television news.

April 5, 2006, 12:01 PM
I avoid Katie and don't watch the Today show.

Haven't watched CBS news as a primary news source for at least 10 years.

Actually, if they can now replace Mr "Deer in the headlilghts" Matt Lauer, the Today show might be worth watching again.

April 5, 2006, 12:17 PM
Life is too short to watch television news.

I haven't posted in awhile (I consider my time better spent reading as many threads as possible), but this comment hit real close to home.

Television news is not far removed from daytime talk shows, IMO.

I can get enough depressing information from print media and the internet........... and don't have to wade through commercials.

April 5, 2006, 12:57 PM
My opinion of broadcast news is that Don Henley's old song is more relevant than ever.

We got the bubble-headed-bleach-blonde who comes on at five
She can tell you ’bout the plane crash with a gleam in her eye
It’s interesting when people die-Give us dirty laundry

and especially

You don’t really need to find out what’s going on
You don’t really want to know just how far it’s gone
Just leave well enough alone
Eat your dirty laundry

April 5, 2006, 01:12 PM
I'd bet a coffee that she owns a gun though.
If not, she probably has armed body guards at her beck and call.

I quit watching most CBS, ABC, CNN, MSNBC shows, and never, repeat, never their national news and political talk shows.

April 5, 2006, 01:31 PM
"Life is too short to watch television news"

I agree. I watch DVD's of "Sanford & son", "Andy Griffith", "King of the Hill" & I play darts.

Katie, who? :neener:

What about FOX News? Or is it ok because they're on your side?

April 5, 2006, 02:38 PM
What about FOX News? Or is it ok because they're on your side?
Actually, I am sick of Fox News Channel too, as they seem to be getting as liberal as the rest of them.

I prefer getting national news off the internet.

April 5, 2006, 02:48 PM
On a plus side, if you're flipping through channels in the AM after just waking up, the odds have been drastically reduced that you'll accidentally be channel surfing and run smack dab into KATIE COURIC'S COLON. It's just about the worst wake up call one could have in the morning.

You do have to be more cautious at night time of Katie's colon, though. It's not nearly as bad as if you'd seen it in the AM before your morning coffee.

April 5, 2006, 04:35 PM
She was interviewing Coulter when her most recent book came out last year:

"How to talk to a liberal ... if you must"

Coulter referred to Couric as: "The affable Eva Braun of the left" in the book and Couric asked her what she meant by that? Duh!

Coulter told her, on camera, that she had yet to see Katie ask any left wing author, like Michael Moore, for any kind of substantiation for their claims.

Coulter also pointed out that she was the first conservative writer they had EVER had on their show, in spite of huge book sales over the years. She added that Couric just accepts anything these people on the left say in interviews as gospel truth and believes every word of it and it was frankly, kind of embarassing to watch her fawning over them.

Ann threw a few basic Michael Moore questions out there. Couric ignored them all and shifted to asking Coulter why her writing "seemed so angry and vindictive". Nice impartial interview questions.

Couric did the whole interview with her teeth clenched and couldn't wait to go to break. Coulter was smiling and laughing the entire time. It was worth watching to see Couric squirming with that phony "sorority rush chairman" smile pasted on her face.

I'm sure a junior booking producer at the Today show was fired that afternoon for booking Coulter.

Fox News is not on our side (at least in respect to the RKBA), they are just not hostile to firearms by promoting gun control through extremely biased "investigative reporting"...Many of their hosts are ignorant of firearms and occasionally make comments that appear anti, but they are not the die-hard, calculated propagandists of gun-control that CBS is.

Just like Bush. Bush is not on our side when it comes to the RKBA. He is just not hostile to gun owners. He doesn't promote gun control. He isn't like Clinton, who in 1999, YEARS after the AWB, was on Couric's show advocating that the AWB be renewed in 2004! Talk about an extremist on a mission! Bush has never cheerleaded any gun control. He did play the "game" with the AWB while Tom "the hammer" Delay ended the ban by refusing any notion of a floor vote on it. Bush is ok with what's on the books though. Instead, someone on our side would advocate the repeal of many unconstitutional firearms laws.

Haven't watched CBS news since Cronkite left. I was a kid then. Didn't know any better. Just liked Walter Cronkite.

What'd you expect. It's CBS News. They LOVED Rather.

Look at it this way. No temptation to 'give the new anchor a chance'. We already know what we've got.

Who is Katie Couric? And what is this "television" thing you keep referring to?

April 5, 2006, 11:32 PM
It's simply demographics and nothing more. Lester Holt would have been a much better choice.

April 6, 2006, 01:51 AM

I can't recieve any channels where I am and the internet is my only source of news. Besides gossip and hearsay, of course.

April 6, 2006, 02:24 AM
Don't have anything to say about the topic. I'm only posting so everyone can laugh at my quote du jour.

When I got this assignment, I thought, `Whoa, slow news day!' But the importance of the sports bra to American women can't be overemphasized. -- Katie Couric

April 6, 2006, 03:17 AM
I met Clarence Page. He spoke tonight at our university. It was entertaining but all of the anti-Bush propaganda annoyed me. I am not pro-Bush or anti-Bush but I felt it detracted from the speech and was kind of redundant. He said that the media is becoming a thing of the past. He did say that the television is still not as effective as a newspaper or the internet. He said the internet with powere for up to the minute current events is more powerful then ever. That the politics of people are more influenced by websites (like THR) and bloggers. The newspaper also has such a large hold on our society because it is traditional and convenient. The fact is that the television is become an out of date meduim for news. However certain shows, such as the Daily Show, the O'Reilly Factor, and some of the other opinion shows are going to remain popular. This is due to the fact that people either enjoy the obvious slant or the humor or both. I personally prefer the internet for my news coverage.

CBS isn't stooping lower. They can't can't go any lower. Dan Rather was the absolute bottom of the barrel.
They're just managing to stay in character.

April 6, 2006, 10:55 AM
only younger and with fewer reporting credentials.
Vastly, nauseatingly liberal, staunchly anti gun and anti self reliance, she is a symbol of everything that is wrong with this country.
I haven't watched CBS since Comrade Cronkite's propaganda days, so no great loss to me.

April 6, 2006, 03:42 PM
Andy Rooney, it's reported on the that no one at CBS is really happy about this. The word is she can be a bit of a "Hillary",and we all know what she is.:barf:

April 6, 2006, 03:50 PM
So she's not just a moron, but she also doesn't make up for it with congeniality?

April 6, 2006, 04:11 PM
Ahh, yes. The perfect blend of hard news and entertainment. With Katie's record she'll pull CBS new further left than they are now (assuming of course she'll have editorial control over content). Now NBC has a personality hole to fill on the Today show and who do they get? Someone from the entertainment side of someone else's house. Yep, just what is needed. Let's confuse news and entertainment even further and we can even claim to be impartial all the while.

The evening news is a 910 format increasingly irrelevant because of the internet.

April 8, 2006, 02:12 PM
I'm trying to convince my folks of Katie's evilness, but they just see her smile. Does anyone know where I could find a link to footage of her saying something evil?

One wonders how that might be possible after Blather, yet CBS, reaching deep into the **** of the industry, has come up with a turd even more vile.
Some things never change.
