Ok, maybe a bit of an overstatement, but since moving here last month I am totally suprised as what I have discovered here.

I moved to Southern New Jersey from Georgia. Since moving I have come up against the roadblocks the politicos have put in place, but I have seen some realy great things also.

I joined a fantastic Skeet and Trap Club for the princely sum of $25 a year. Rds are $3 each. The place is immaculate and filled with GREAT people. My skeet scores went from crappy to only sort of crappy in one visit due to the great free coaching I received from other fellow members.

I found a great indoor pistol range, run by the local cops in a nearby town. They allow civies to shoot at night to help pay the bills. Nice place, clean, well taken care of with attentive ROs on staff.

Met a gunsmith today with an unbelievable selction of SxS, Parkers, Fox's and Elsies .... cant wait to have him do a trigger job on my s&w and fix the stock on my A5.

Many other places have been visited, even the gun guys at the Dicks Sporting Goods have been knowledgable. It's like a little group of people that really look out for other gun lovers because they feel so persecuted.

NJ is not the place for you if you love to shoot your AR and CC. And I fully appreciate that as a now declawed ex CCW holder. But it is not the Gunny Wasteland rumored about!

I lived there for 36 years, and I won't go back. Incredibly high taxes, no rifle hunting, no carry permits, aggressive crazy drivers  .
I won't go back! :neener:

Rds are $3 each.

What does that mean? $3 per shot? That can't possibly be. The last box of shotshells I bought didnt cost much more than.

When I was a kid we used to hunt woodchucks with rifles all over the dairy farms in NJ. But now I live in Fl and have an AR but I do miss pheasant hunting. I don't miss state income tax though.

Moved from Georgia to NJ, and you think it's better?

Must be that new math....

Well, good to see you met some other gunnies, guess that will make it a little better.

Pitman refugee myself. Found political assylum in FLA:neener: .
The only place I ever found to shoot was Zee's Orchards or the Pine Barrens, Wharton tract deers are tiny little things. I also got some ducks and Bob Whites down by the great bay.
So, where is there a shooting range in South Jersey?

P5 Guy,

Myself and a three other gun nuts own this property (40 minutes SSE from my house) in which we have a shooting range....really nice place, all private and secluded, 1 mile off of the nearest paved road....It has a 250 yard range, 100 yard range, a cabin, skeet range, just nice to be there......

Next time you are in S. Jersey, drop me a line and join us!!.....

Sounds almost too hard to believe....sometimes I cant belive it but here is a picture: http://home.comcast.net/~45man/misc_images/rangehelo2.jpg

Is that 40 minutes in Shore traffic or regular traffic?
What county is your range in, if I may ask?

Gentleman, this post is somewhat tongue in cheek. Please try to be happy for me and see the positives. Plus, there are people here like you, trying to fight the good fight. Some people have to stay here, by choice or not. Ask youself this, if they closed NJ, would you want all of the citizens of NJ to move to your state? I would bet not. So, amuse us... humor us ... feed us BS that our state is not horrible... we will keep on living here and you all can enjoy your states without an influx of people that pronounce water "what, her"

Here are the ones I joined or am going to join
Pine Belt Sportsman Club
Berlin Police Association
Square Circle Sportsmens Club

For all the busting I do on NJ, I have to give the devil it's due.

The small, embattled gunny community is pretty tight and friendly, and there are some nice facilities to be found, both way down south and up in the "mountain man" area in the NW corner.

You should have moved to S.E. PA instead. All that stuff but CCW, AR's and almost anything else you want too.

But, glad you found some shooting environment.

I grew up in Newark / Passaic but had the good sense to join the Navy at 17 and never went back. S. Jersey is nice though. I have a cousin that lives in Glassboro

.45man...

have you tried bob's sport shop on delsea dr. in Glassboro? Definately a friendly place, very laid back once you're known in the shop. Range fees are a little expensive without a membership though. Let me know if you're interested in heading down. I'm there almost every week.

If you're up for the company, I'd be interestd in joining you and your friends at you're private range, if that is a general offer.

Geekwitha45, what ranges did you like up in NW NJ? I'm orginally from the area, and didn't find anything that I liked a whole lot that I could get a membership for.

A RD at $3.00 I would imagine is a round of skeet. Not a single shotgun shell.

He didn't say NJ was better than anywhere. He said it was better than he expected.

in the 60's early 70's Jersey was pretty good, we would pin our hunting license on the back of our shirts and go plinking. walking down the street with shotguns and .22's.

As an adult I find the gunnies in San Francisco to be far more accomodating and helpfull then the ones in Reno.

Like he pointed out in places like SF and NJ being a gunnie means being a persecuted minority has some benifits.....not that I'll be moving back any time soon.

I just took this for my buddy but I think I'll post it here for you fellas, behind enemy lines. New jersey has really good hunting if you like to hunt with a 12 ga. you'll like hunting there the bag limits are great for deer. Before Zulima Farber sees these pics and salivates over an AWB conviction. I live in Florida you socialist witch and that is where these pictures were taken.

Cherry Ridge is a great range when I was a kid that is where I learned how to shoot. Hey minman if you ever see a guy there with more hair in his ears than on his head and he doesn't hit anything that's my dad.

Cherry Ridge, located off Canasteer Rd in West Milford. New membership sign up, and orientation is the first Sunday of every month. Has a 50/100 yards range with over head shelter, also a 200/300 yard range. Outdoor and indoor pistol/rimfire. Skeet and trap, also archery range. They are open everyday of the year, except for Christmas. The range is kept immaculate, including the clubhouse. Membership is $150. your fist year as initiation, and $100. every year afterwords. I live in Vernon Township, Cherry Ridge is about 12 miles from my house. Pretty convenient for me.
Great club members, and staff as well, make it a pleasure to shoot there.

BTW, You can bring your AR, or AK, if you have one, load up, and shoot at any rate of fire you want to.
