Well, my name is Shauna. I am born and raised in Florida, so yes I am a Florida cracker. We are few and far between it seems. Besides shooting, I love to ride horses. I have a Weimaraner named Bacardi. He is like a kid to me. He has his Jr. Hunter Championship and we are working on his Senior Hunter right now! He loves it and he is by no means gun shy. Sometimes he will accompany me when I go horseback riding too but he is more interested in what the horses leave behind. I work full time for a lawyer (which is pretty boring but I hear some interesting stories) and I go to school full time although I do not have a major yet.
Not only am I new to THR, but I am fairly new to shooting as well. I joined the site to see it if anyone knew anything about powdercoating a pistol, and then I had a question as to what the best 9mm is. I have received so much help so far I thought that I might get a few responses at best! As for right now my only intentions in owning a gun would be to use at the range, I do not know if I could ever trust myself to get a concealed weapons permit. I think if I actually had to use the gun in self defense I would be too scared. I think that is about it. If I missed anything let me know!

I understand that the new people buy the ammo so I am more than willing to, but only under the condition that you have to take me shooting with you!

Welcome to THR princesscrash01, newbies buys the ammo. I'll take .308 Winchester. :)

I've always liked Weimaraners, my parents had 'em when I was a child, and I've have 'em now but I think the cats would object.

Let me be the first to say the best 9mm is a .45.:neener:

I'd say a Glock excellent quality and the price is really good.

Glad to have you on board. You're right, there's lots of info here, but sometimes you need to sort through a lot of byproduct to get to the pony!

My son is stationed in the panhandle near Destin. Beautiful part of the world.

I disagree Kodiaz! Everyone knows the Browning Hi-Power is the best 9MM ever!

That being said, welcome to the boards Shauna, enjoy your stay, and I'll take some 7.62x51 NATO if you're buying the ammo :D

Hey I never said a Glock was the best ever. I said quality for the price.

If you want the best look for the name John Moses Browning on the patent. You'll know the Lord himself had a hand in the design of that Firearm.

Kimber 1911 TLE 2 stainless. 45 ACP. If you insist on the little euro bullets you can't do better than a Browning Hi-Power.

But you get a lot of gun for the money with a Glock. Oh Shauna when people switch the topic of your thread that is called going off topic.

Welcome aboard!

Remember, a 9mm is just a .45 set on stun :neener:

That said, I own a stainless Beretta 92FS Brigadier "stun gun". I love it.

Welcome Sha-Sha-Sha-Shauna (old song rference)
You sound like my neice. The two things she is bugging me for are a horse and her own rifle.

As for thr 9mm I like my Taurus PT92SS very much. My friend has a Beretta Storm that is also very nice.

Welcome aboard :)

I do not know if I could ever trust myself to get a concealed weapons permit. I think if I actually had to use the gun in self defense I would be too scared.

When you are ready to talk about those things, stop by the Strategies and Tactics Forum and start a thread on minset.

Hello! Welcome aboard. This is a great site and there is ALWAYS something to read(informative and/or humor(mostly in locked threads :D ) ) . As far as powder coating goes I dont know exactly what your wanting to do. I know that rifles are powder coated often and I know of pistol slides being powder coated but I havent personally seen any frames powder coated aftermarket but Im sure its possible.

What do you want to know about powder coating?

(Please tell me it doesn't involve turning a gun a funny color, ok.)

Hey griz, No problem we can't know everything about everything, because if we did then there would be no reason for this website!

Barbara, the reason that I was questioning about powdercoating was because I wanted my gun to be unique. I won't say that I didn't consider powdercoating it pink, but I changed my mind. Not that there is anything wrong with a pink gun....But I had a lot of friends tell me they would never speak to me again if I did. Oh well. I am sure I have said enough for now....

I was afraid you were going to say that. :)

I don't know what kind of gun you have, but you could probably make better, easier modifications to the appearance of the stock, without having to mess with the metal.
