Headspace anyone?

Okay I know a bit about headspacing, as far as checking it on a rifle with the headspace gauges are concerned. How would you accomplish it on an autopistol? Pretty much the same way, IE stick the gauge in the chamber, try to move the slide into battery? What happens if it's off on a pistol, is it as important on a pistol as it is on a rifle? If it's off, what can you do to correct it?

Please dont mind me, I'm just a little bored tonight and my mind is wandering as a result:D

Tapered wall cases headspace onthe case mouth, shouldered cases (7.62x25 Tokarev, i.e.) headspace on the shoulder, and for the odd straight walled rimmed case (for autos anyhoo) they headspace on the rim. Same as rifes, though there are few taper walled rifle cases .(.30 Carbine comes to mind)

Yes, place gauge in chamber, attempt to close to battery. Should Go on a GO, not go on a NO GO, and definitely not go on a FIELD.

Simple, no?

You do not want it 'off' (that is passing NOGO or FIELD). not good, KABOOM waiting to happen.

Repair is usually replacing the barrel on most taper walled semi-auto pistols.
