Doesn't seem like a lot is out there these days in 10 guage. Anyone know what's what? So far I've counted some imported single or doubles, and the Browning and Remington offerings that are mostly only available in turkey camo.

What else's still being made? Any basic repeaters, or reproductions that can shoot modern ammo?

IIRC, Remington still makes the 10 in wood. BPS comes in 10.

The 10 tended to drop off with the 3 1/2" 12 ga. I think it's making a comeback. Even with the same load of shot, the 10 is good for maybe 10 more yards due to a better pattern and shorter shot string.

I just got an SP-10 in camo for turkeys & geese. IMO, there's little that a 3 1/2" 12 will do that a 3" won't, but a 10 will do more than a 3 1/2" 12 gauge. That said, if I were getting one shotgun for hunting, it would be a 3 1/2" 12 gauge

Gold Light 10 ga gas operated auto only in Mossy Oak. I have an older BPS 10 ga blued steel & wood.

Browning no longer offers the wood & blued fiinish on the boomers, the auto in Mossy Oak, the BPS is in the catalog with Mossy oak listed bit showing Shadow Grass and they also offer the BPS NWTF 10ga with a 24" barrel and a drilled/tapped reaceiver in Mossy Oak New Break-Up

Remington, Ithaca, Browning, and H&R all make 10 gauges.

What 10ga does Ithaca make? Last I heard the Mag-10 had been dropped, although I may be wrong.

The H&R/NEF 10's are just the break open models, right?

You may be right. I haven't checked for a while. I only knew of the Mag-10. The H&R's are just the break open models.

My father owns a Browning Gold Light 10 in all black. He bought it about 3 years ago.

FWIW, I know of 2 friends whose doctors told them to stop shooting their 10 guages for ducks due to persistent neck and shoulder problems. Hunting turkeys is different since you don't pull the trigger as often as with ducks.

I shoot a 10ga BPS 30" on all waterfowl and turkeys. It kicks no more than a 12ga 3" 870 IMHO. In fact, like all big bores I've shot, it pushes more than slams your shoulder. I think this is a function of a long heavy gun and a slower and lower pressure peak. I do notice I roll with the recoil more than many who fight it!:neener:
