DFW dealers

I've pretty much decided on buying a Springfield 1911 Loaded for my first pistol here in the US (oh, man, my wife's gonna hurt me!) :D

Question is, who do I buy it from? I don't know the dealers locally, so who are the decent dealers within, oh, I don't know, say 20 miles radius or so of Euless? I'll happily pay slightly higher prices in exchange for friendly, knowledgeable service - the kind of place that one can hang out for an hour or two.

Sporting Arms is in Lewisville. No store front as such. You make an appointment to pick up your gun. They will order what they don't have in stock.
Nice people and usually have the cheapest prices around.
BTW they only charge $15 for a transfer.

You can also go to the BulletTrap Inc in Plano...They are a full/nearly full service range with rentals, and firearms sales and supplies.

Bachmann was at the show in Mesquite this past weekend, and will be at the next show in Denton. Might be worth the drive to see what else is out there....

Bachman used to have the lowest prices, but not anymore. There are better deals out there.

If you decide to hit the gun show, "Doc's" was $10 cheaper than Bachman (at the same show), when I was Glock shopping. Doc is a dentist that sets up at all the local gun shows.

Like the earlier posters said, Bachman doesn't offer any real discounts from their storefront.

I think I read Doc's was going out of business. Too bad, they did have good prices, bought my Glock 17 from him at a gun show.

He did have a good selection of new guns. If he didn't have it, it probably wasn't at the show.

Do you like being treated with contempt or would you rather have someone who will remember your name AND give you the best price. Try SMR Firearms in Hurst or Pioneer Arms in Bedford. Both upstanding businesses with the nicest guys working there. SMR generally has the edge on prices, especially special orders. Ask him if he’ll do a 10% plus cost….PM me and I’ll tell ya’ who to tell him sent you.

I second Alduro's suggestions in addition to Bachmann. I've dealt with all three and enjoyed my transaction with all of them. I'm in the midcities area as well.

If forced to choose though I'd end up back at Bachmann due to the selection, pricing, and knowledge of the staff.

If you're shopping price, talk to Dennis at DC Security Group. (http://www.gunshopfinder.com/bytownresults.asp?area=Dallas&ID=4212) He says that he rarely gets beaten on prices.

At the larger shows, check out Bachman's, AJC Sportshop, Schramms, and A&J Guns. Its very rare that between these four (five before Doc retired) that I don't find the lowest price on what I want. I search the web before the shows to get an idea of what things run and one of these have alwyas beat the best on-line price I could find.

If I'm shopping with the intent of spending my money where I like it best spent - it's at Gunmaster in Plano. They're not the most cost-competitive around, but they are aways reasonable and can stretch pretty far when needed. They know my name, they know my kids, they're gentle to my (firearms agnostic) wife when she comes with me, they truly love and know firearms, and they're just plain decent folk.

Problem is, AndyC, you live on the wrong side of town. :D

Here is another vote for S.M.R. Firearms in Hurst. I have made several purchases there over the past 8 or 9 years. Prices are good and service is the best.

Bachman is good at the shows. Fairly friendly, decent prices. When you go to their store on NW Hwy, its like another world. Uptight people, high prices, no fun at all.

Its like Disneyland and Jurassic Park with them.

I couldn't agree more.

A couple of months back I went to Bachman, it was my first AND last visit. Cash in my pocket, I was ready to buy a Hi Power they had at the front case. Old fart behind the counter refused to show it to me! "Naw... it's going in the safe- shouldn't be out anyway". And he carried it to the back.

I left and ten minutes later found a bargain Browning BDA at ANOTHER pawnshop. So I guess I could thank Bachman's for that. :)

I give two thumbs up to Schramm's and GunMaster. Nice folks.

Check out the show in Denton this weekend. I bought all my guns at the show and they are mostly from Schramm. He gives the best price and he doesn't charge the 3% fee.

Schramm's does usually have the best prices, but I thought all their prices were "cash prices" and if using a credit card, there was 3% added?

Last couple of times I just used checks and they didn't charge the 3%. Funny thing is he remembers me from the show from buying two guns from him in less than 3 weeks. :)
