Different Glock Frames?

I am looking around on Summitgunbroker.com and I come across a few different inds of Glocks.
I dont know all that much about glock, but some of their used trade in guns are in my price range.
Some say they are "Old Frame" glocks.
Some others say "FGR" frames.
Some do not specify.
Care to educate me?

FGR would be Gen 3. Now keep in mind sub-compacts dont get the light rail.

FGR - Finger Groove, Rail; this is the current frame with finger grooves and a light/ accesory rail on the dust cover of the larger (non subcompact) frame sizes. The "old' frame is the one without finger grooves or a rail. The really old original frame was pebble textured all around without the molded in checkering on the front strap. This original frame was only on the model 17 and a very few 18s & 19s. Some folks prefer the grooves & rail, others find that the old frame fits them better without the finger grooves and/or like the cleaner no rail frame look.

With the Model 21 there is a Gen 2.5, fingergrooves but no rail :) I like the Glock fingergrooves, they fit my hand, YMMV

Aside from screwing up the grip angle from the get-go, the finger grooves are the worst thing about any current Glock.
One can only marvel at the genius behind a move that sees people burn off the finger bumps when they could have been left off entirely and only those who just had to add them could have just used an aftermarket grip sleeve. Perfection indeed.
The XD is going to eventually eat Glock's lunch if the latter doesn't get a little more open minded about its current "one size fits few" mentality in regard to those damnable finger grooves.
