Welcome. I am not so new to arms & ammo but am very new to computer & the language of forums. I have asked many Q's about the abreviations so do not feel bad. Every one will help you. My last 2 abreviation Q's were bbt=back to top. & bump,=that just "bumped" a for sale item back to the top of the page. Welcome.

Yes, failure to feed means the gun did not properly chamber the round. In buying/selling guns, it means "face to face."

FWIW (for what it is worth), I often try to answer questions about gun problems, and I sure wish people would spell out what they mean. "FTF" can mean "Failure to Feed" or "Failure to Fire." "FTE" can mean "Failure to Extract" or "Failure to Eject." If the poster really wants an answer rather than just showing off his ability to use abbreviations, it would be better to spell out what is wrong.

In a previous post, I advocated for the following abbreviations in an effort to make the wording more definitive:
FTFi : Failure To Fire
FTFe :Failure To Feed
FTEx :Failure To Extract
FTEj :Failure To Eject
Of course, you wouldn't have to worry much about interpreting abbreviations if you confined yourself to using Smith & Wesson autos. :)
