I don't think there is a correct answer too this question, as both
companies make excellent weaponary~!:) However, for my use I
prefer SIG's classic P-series self-loaders~!:D

Super subjective. I would honestly not be able to pick, it just really depends on what your criteria is for a firearm.
HK and SIG both make awesome pistols AND rifles. I can drool about the Mark 23 one night, a P210 the next night, a PSG1 another night, and a SIG 550 the very next night. See... how can you possibly choose between the two.

For me personally in all of my shooting and exposure to guns over the years the single most reliable brand of handguns I have ever seen is SIG SAUER. Not saying that HK is bad by any means just that for me and in my exp. SIG is what I would grab if my life depended on it.

IMO, it depends on what caliber and what fits you the best. For me, when it comes to a .45, I'll take a P220. For a .40 I like the USP fullsize. Recently I've taken a great liking to the P2000 LEM for an EDC piece. Some say HK has better attention to detail than SIG does these days, but I'm not sure.

I consider them both to be the best of the DA autos. I've owned several Sigs and two USPs. Never seen a malfunction by any of them in some 15,000 rounds fired.

they have made a stronger commitment to the citizen market which should have residual effects positively impacting a basic American right. Further, HK has done little to nurture anything but the uber-practical aspects of firearms which the anti-2A agenda feeds on.
FWIW and respectfully submitted.

Both are excellent quality manufacturers.
It's a Ford VS Chevy thing.
I personally prefer HK, for two simple reasons.
1. I'm Lefty, and HK is more Lefty-friendly
2. I don't like DA/SA, and most Sigs are DA/SA.

Better? I would think tie, I think they are more similar than many would care to admit. They both do things at such a high level that it wouldn't be accurate to name one better than the other. Rather than a Ford Chevy thing, I'd call them more MBZ BMW
As a consumer, I prefer the HK :D

My dad owns a USP Compact .40 and I own a SigPro 2340 and frankly, I love both of them. Admittedly I hit better with his USP, but I like the two stage decock on my Sig. I'd be more than willing to take either in any situation.

HK's, being that they cost more are not widely bought/used...so, are they better? mmm! at doing what? they both are good at doing their intended purpose. they are both durable, boringly reliable and combat accurate..barring subjective criteria, one would be well served by owning either hangun. i have owned/shot Sig's. cannot comment on HK as i have neither owned/shot one yet and am not in a hurry to do so anyways..but they do have their reputation for a reason, i suspect...YMMV.

They are both well designed and well executed pistols, but the H&K controls suit me better.
Sadly, both of them are just a little too wide in the grips to shoot correctly.

Take your pick, for me it would be Sig. They are both excellent manufactures that make great products, it really is a personal choice.

Who do you think makes a better gun HK or Sig?:
Smith & Wesson. I sold my USP stainless .45 to buy my LNIB 1006. I did like the USP, but the 3rd gen Smith stainless guns are about as smooth and rock-solid as they come. I did liek the USP, though.
Sigs are nice pistols, but they feel so weird when dryfired.
I also firmly believe that both Sig and HK are way overpriced. Same thing with German Cars. A Benz is no better built than an Infinity or Cadillac; it just costs more to buy and more to fix and the engineering is all bass-ackwards.:barf:

I own and shoot both. They are both equally top notch as far as quality, workmanship, etc. I believe it really comes down to the controls and how it feels in your hand. The one that is more comfortable is the one for you.
In my situation, if I need to carry IWB... my SIG P230 stainless is with me. If I carry OWB, my H&K USP Compact 40 is with me. My USP full size goes with me to the range sometimes. You won't go wrong with either.
