I was given the opportunity to shoot a .50 Desert Eagle today at the range. Massive gun but still nice and smooth and fun to shoot. I will probably ruffle some feathers with this comment but "MAN THAT WAS ONE BUTT UGLY GUN". That gold color with the cammo etch job!?!?!? Talk about a "liberace gun"... :)

9 rounds. Fun stuff, I highly recommend giving it a try. I have never shot a Desert Eagle before, but I imagine it can't be that bad right?

I was at the range one day when someone was firing a Desert Eagle. He was acting real cocky looking around to if he was impressing anyone. An evil power came over me and I retrieved my 4" S&W 500 from its case. The blasts from my 500 put his Desert Eagle to shame. People passed him up to come over and see what I was shooting.

lol

I kind of want to get a .44 DE at some point, but it'll be in satin. They do 8", right?

They come standard with a 6" barrel. You can order an extra 10" barrel.

I never considered my Desert Eagle to be a Liberace gun. I'll have to remember that next time I use it to go pig hunting. Liberace would've liked that, and I'll make sure I only shoot the foo-foo piggies in the bunch, ok? :scrutiny:

No. A 4" S&W 500 loaded with these bad boys:

700 gr. Hardcast
THE NEW BIGGEST AND BADDEST !!!
http://www.ballisticsupply.net/Portals/11097/700%20gr%20-%203-s.jpg
20 rnd. box = $40.00

50 rnd. box = $85.00

Muzzle velocity = 1200 fps

Muzzle energy = 2240 ft. lbs

Recoil = 64 ft. lbs.

The 700 gr. Hardcast is now part of our permanent line-up, and the response has been TREMENDOUS! This will handle any Tyrannosaurus in your back yard. This is the LARGEST COMMERCIAL LOAD AVAILABLE, and the only place you can get it is right here. Our standard loading for best accuracy and all-around knockdown power is 1200 fps with 2240 ft. lbs. of energy and a Taylor KO Factor of 60. The Taylor Factor places this between a 375 H&H Magnum and a 458 Win Mag. Richard Gibson from Homer, AK has designed and manufactures this bullet and is one of the best hand casters around. If you plan on shooting more than one or two of these in one session, we recommend wearing a padded shooting glove. If you are into maximum recoil and self-abuse, this is the round for you. The bottom line is - You've bought the Biggest and the Baddest Revolver out there and this will demonstrate it's MAXIMUM CAPABILITY!!

Uncle owns a VERY nice looking one.
The slide is stainless and the frame has some sort of reddish finish on it.
.44 magnum.

Actually, I'm kind of intrigued by the idea of a .44 DE pistol for hog hunting.

I'd take a Mark 23 SOCOM over a DE any day.

I've always liked the sound of those .357 magnum 1911s.

No discussion of the Desert Eagle .50 can be complete without mentioning 'Bullett tooth Tony' from SNATCH.......some very cool .50 shot in that movie.

Haha...good call Peaceful Warrior.

"The fact that you've got "Replica" written down the side of your gun...And the fact that I've got "Desert Eagle point five O" written on the side of mine..."

That's like comparing an M-4 to a Browning BAR Mk II Safari in .338 WM. You wouldn't use the .338 for CQB, and I sure as hell wouldn't try to take a grizzly with a .223 carbine.

Very different guns for very different purposes. The Mk 23 is a spec.ops./tactical pistol. The DE is a hunting handgun, period.

But, FWIW, I would not feel at a disadvantage if I entered a gunfight with my brushed chrome .50. Even with body armor, you're gonna feel a 325 grain pill smacking you at over 1500 FPS.:neener:

Can you imagine handloading those, and looking at your target after your bullets are keyholeing???
