Would you let your wife buy this?

I'm personally a strong advocate for letting your wife buy whatever gun she wants to buy, but would you let your wife buy this? I would, but it's just soooo ugly....

EDITED TO ADD: By the way, this thread was not meant to be serious or anything, so please don't go on a tyrade about wife's rights and stuff. I'm not advocating tyranny over your wives.

I'd be so thrilled she wanted a gun I'd buy it for her!!!
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and I haven't met many people as beholdin' as my wife.

Yeah, I don't have to worry about that too much. My wife loves guns, the gun she really wants is a snubby taurus revolver.

I did let my wife buy her own handgun - this is what she bought...

That little Taurus pimp gun would never be on her list....:barf:

Yep.
I do not know where the idea that females, are supposed to have permission from males before buying anything.
Guns are no exception. While I do advocate ladies seek other ladies that are shooters, trainers and such to get training, and assist in gun selection...
"It is cute" is perfectly fine with me.
"That is ugly" works for guys so why not?
FWIW I had a student get one of those as a fun gift from other ladies. It was a shooter, and they had lots of fun range time. Heck I shot it, took the ribbing the ladies and I were known to do.
Couple of men bought the same gun in wood and blue...fun gun and inexpensive ammo.
We had fun shooting games with guns like that...it was all good.

I'm with sm here; what is this attitude about "letting" one's wife buy her own handgun????????
When I went to the 1st gunshow after my 1st daughter was born, my wife told me that if I found a pink handled pistol, I should buy it for her. Had that Taurus been around then, I'd have 3 of them by now.

Theres no "letting" or not "letting" here. To "let" infers I have control...
That would NOT be a smart move on my part...:banghead:
But, yes, I would not try to talk her out of it. However, my wife carries a Sig 228, so I don't have to worry about the issue coming up...

I agree with you guys. Just to clarify, I'm not saying I "let" my wife do anything, I wasn't inferring that I had any control over her. It was just a figure of speech, I'll go along with any gun my wife wants to buy, unless I know it's out of her range of ability, like a snub-nose 500 S&W (I think it's the alaskan) because she would hurt herself shooting it (she has trouble holding heavier guns and recoil).

My wife and I got married on Nov. 5, 05. She has shot guns before and even owned one years ago. But, she is not what you would call a gun person. She went to a gun show with me a while back and saw one of those Taurus .22's. She said that she liked it. I happen to have a PT22, but the don't
have the pink grips. Anyway, I thought about ordering a set of those grips and surprise her with it.

It wouldn't matter WHAT she bought. I'd be flat out surprised she bought ANYTHING gun related. She's not exactly a gun person...:scrutiny:

I don't "let" my wife do anything, she is an adult with a great mind.....and if she wanted to buy "ANY" gun I would encourage it.:D

Like most other married men, my wife makes her own purchase choices. Unfortunately for me, she has great taste and favors well polished (1600-grit) blued 1911's customized by LTW smiths and stocked with elephant ivory. Her last pistol cost more than double my first car.
So, while I am happy she likes guns, I am broke.

It's sooo cute, like a handgun but smaller  :D Honestly, in all seriousness, if that's what she wants & will practice using, it's the perfect gun for her! ;)

I'd let (as in not argue about it) her buy it, then have her shoot an orange or something with a round of 40 gr LRN (the .22 HPs just don't penetrate enough for carry, plus they usually don't expand anyway). Then have her shoot a watermelon with a .40 cal JHP. Then have her read this. http://www.plusp.com/classroom/lesson30.php Then I'd gently suggest a nickel-plated P11 with a pink grip.

Serious Answer: When my wife was looking to buy her new hand gun I tried to offer my thoughts and help find answers for any questions she had.
Personally: I'm not a fan of the pink handles or the gold accents.
Funny enough my wife ended up deciding on the PT25 with the nickle finish. She wanted the pearl grips (white) but didn't want the gold accents. Taurus doesn't offer that configuration and we are ready to buy new grips, but we found a gun dealer that had a few different ones in stock and was willing to swap out the grips for us.
So now she has it and all our friends have started calling it "mini-me" since I have my dad's old service gun (Hi-Power) that is nickle plated with pearl grips as well.

I have that one sitting next to me. Not my wifes but my 15 year old daugther's pistol. I had to send back to factory would't fire about 1/2 the time. They polished the feed ramp and fixed the light strikes .I just came in from testing. Daugther will be happy her Madam gun is back.
Gun has a terrible trigger they even copied that from Beretta.

The shop we purchased my wife's from mentioned the feed ramp issue and as such, they polish the ramp on each one that they get in before they put it out for sale.

Mine has functioned flawlessly and is pretty acurate at a decent distance. It is no target gun by any means, but sure is fun to make cans and pine cones dance.

I would allow my wife to buy one, although before doing so, I would take her somewhere I could rent one first, then I would let her try it out.
If she decided it was what she wanted, It would be a done deal.
But I can guarantee my wife would never want something like that!:neener:

If that is what my wife wanted, I wouldn't care. Actually I would be kind of happy. My wife currently has a 4" XD 9mm in the custom shop, and when it gets back it will wear a pink slide and have pink trigger safety, grip safety, mag release, and slide release. But, that is what she wanted, so that is what she is getting. I'm sure it will look fine, but it will no longer have that "evil" look. LOL

Mine loves that very gun...but doesn't want a pistol. She actually went w/me to the gunshow this past weekend and picked one up, but that's as far as it went.
Alduro said it well. "I'd be so thrilled she wanted a gun I'd buy it for her!!!" I tried, but she said no. :(

Who am I to tell her not to get a gun, lord knows I buy enough!!! My wife has that exact model... pink grips, gold accents and all. She loves "pinky".:p She's not got thousands of rounds through it, only one minor problem and I fixed that an about thirty seconds.
As a warning, you have to load the magazine like a ruger, lower the spring with your nail, not by pushing the next round in. Otherwise it slightly deforms the cases and you have incredible amounts of failures. We took a small allen wrench and slip it through the mag to load it... you'll see what I mean when you get it. Enjoy!!!:D

When my wife wanted a weapon of her own I made the mistake of buying it for her. I had the most beautiful Colt M1908 Hammerless in .380. 95% condtion. At first she thought it was nice but she could not hit the barn at 2 paces. She went out herself and went to Calibers (An indoor range in Albuquerque) and tried out weapons of her own. She choose the Glock 19. Bought and paid for herself and all the mods she wanted.(Nightsights extended mag and slide release) She buys what SHE wants.

I'd buy it for her in a heartbeat if she wanted it. Unfortunately she prefers to pick the ones she likes from my collection and claim them as hers. Could be worse I suppose.

With it she is a poet and her words are lead. She shoots full house magnum rounds and ahs said if she was gonna buy another gun this would be it. She loves mine (er, I mean, ours)
I think the pink pistol is cute. Sort of the gun I would like to date. If my wife wanted it I would buy one for her today.
Hell, if I was really rich, I might have to throw together the ultimate custom pimp gun(s) for myself. Sort of the Einstien vs. Elvis vs. H.R.Giger cage match sort of gun. With maybe a dash of James Brown.

...Her .22 plinker is a Phoenix HP-22 and she loves it. It's also incredibly accurate with the 5" barrel. We typically end the day shooting the 7-yard targets off the fence by literally shooting the tacs off!!! For what the local high-dollar shop refers to as the 'Bic Pens' of handguns (they refuse to sell 'em, had to buy it at an out-of-town shop), She got the gun, 2 barrels (3" & 5"), 2 mags, cleaning kit, mag lock and a locking molded case for $195.00! Her carry piece is a P3AT, but when she gets serious, she likes her Super Blackhawk...

Not a Taurus like the one depicted. A CZ, Sig, Colt, Glock or even a S&W but not a bling-bling.
