Could some of you folks recommend a serviceable, but not too awfully expensive (around $500.00) spotting scope? I need a multi-purpose one – BPCR competition, evaluating 7mm and 30-caliber groups at 200 yards and sizing up mule deer anywhere from 200 to 600 yards. Am I asking too much from a $500.00 spotting scope?
Also, I see in the Cabela’s Catalog that spotting scopes are either “angled” or “straight,” with the angled types being slightly more expensive. Is there an advantage to the angled types other than they look cooler to me?
