I recently bought a 6" Ruger GP100 and would like to put a red dot on it. The stores around me have them ranging from $50 - $300.
What makes one better than another? brightness of light? accuracy? stability? or ??
Will I be disappointed if I buy one for $50 such that I'll be spending more soon anyway? I don't want to spend $300 but how much do you have to spend such that it doesn't feel like you got a toy out of a cereal box (I'll be happy if you say $50).
I'm young and ususally shoot with my contacts in so I don't need magnification. I just want additional insurance that I'm going to hit where I think I'm aiming at.
More back ground: I was at the range not too long ago with my .45. I tend to practice shooting that at 5 yards (about the furthest length in my house) and am ok, but as soon as I backed up to 25 yards, I wasn't hitting any thing. I'd like the extra insurance at 25 yards with the .357.
TIA
