Gentlemen,
This story will give you the answer to how many "Tankers" T-26's were built by Ordnance. You will notice one other thing. That's Ordnance T-26's have NO FRONT HAND GUARD.

There are more files on this subject. However to "SEE" the entire data you will need two things. One is my Books and the other a history book. The history book shows what's going on from the early 1920's to the late 1939. As things happen in history Ordnance is moving trying to stay ahead.

eclancy, Wow! I went and peeked at your websites. What an amazing collection of history. (Especially since I now own my first Garand. Bought last week at the CMP store in Ohio. And I have a background in tool & die work. So all the detailed information is right up my alley!).

You might want to get the CD. It has a file caled "Plates" these are not blueprints. However, the are line drawings by Ordnance ever time there was a change in Garand Production.

Clancy, I was under the impression that the field expedient chop downs had no forward handguard and that the Ordnance made T-26 had the handguard. As to why, the troops in the field may not have the chisels or whittling knife to cut it down and fit it properly.

Gary,
Dr.Atwater from APG and the history channel and I went over this question. As far as the real T-26's none had the front handguard. They are on a couple of the field rifles, but don't count as the letter states Remember, many Tankers were built in the 1950's many with welded receivers and other addon's.
