Scope on a Super Redhawk

I have a Tasco Pro-Class 3x22 pistol scope, 30mm tube, made in Japan. I am thinking about putting this on my Ruger Super Redhawk, 44 Magnum, 7 1/2 inch barrel, but I am wondering if this scope will withstand the recoil. Can anyone chime in and let me know if it is worth buying some 30mm rings or should I look for a different scope? Thanks in advance.

I currently have a 2X20 Simmons Gold Medal mounted on my SRH and it's holding up very well and I shoot some pretty hot loads. I would try your Tasco and see if it holds center for you. I would perfer a Leupold or Burris but can't see investing that much money in a handgun scope when the Simmons is just as clear and has been rock solid for me.

Bushnell 2-6x or a Leupold straight 2x is all you will ever need on your SRH...........If you can find a Simmons Gold Medal 2.5-7x(discontinued) somewhere for sale, buy that one, that is one strong pistol scope............

I have a Tasco 4x on my 12" SSK Barrelled Contender. It's been through hundreds of rounds worth of recoil over the past 6 or so years. Seems to be holding up fine...

On my SSK 375JDJ I have a Simmons Gold Medal 2.5-7x, Taurus Raging Bull 454 casull a Leupold 2x, Savage Striker in 308 a Leupold 2.5-8x, T/C Contender in 44 mag a T/C scope 2.5-7x.....but, a good scope and fairly cheap is the Bushnell 2-6x....these are going on some of JD Jones's hand cannons, like my 375 JDJ................

I've had a Bushnell 2x6 variable scope on my SRH for 10+ years.....and never had a problem. Always holds its zero....shooting heavy loads of 240-300 grain bullets. I even dropped it once in the parking lot......landed on the top of the scope!!! Doh!!! (Forgot to snap the holster flap and was taking the rig off!!!!! DUH!!)

I have the same scope as Steve. Very nice combo with the SRH in .44 mag.

I have had a 2X28mm Weaver H2 (SS) on my 7.5" SRH .454 for over a year and a half with no problems. I recently changed out the front sight for a green fiber optic for .45 Colt use on steel plates, much faster than the scope. The scope has really helped this accurate revolver at 50+ yd with various .454 rounds.
I also put the same scope (They were on closeout at eabco.com for $84 then.) on my MKII (KMK-678GC). It works loose on the .22, not the .454! In all fairness, the .22 see's hundreds of rounds at a time - the SRH seldom sees over twenty .454's at a shooting session due to the expense.

Hello Stans,
Been a year later, How did that scope stand up to the 44?
I just picked that same scope up w/ burris rings & bases to fit my super 14 44 mag T/C for $50.00 and am interested.

I have a Bushnell 2 to 6x, (30mm objective IIRC) on my Raging Lunatic ..... that seems to handle hot .454's just fine.
My SRH's tho ... .454 and .44 mag .. both wear a Millet red dot .. overall I prefer the ease of target aquisition compared with scope .. even an EER version still sometimes makes for fiddle finding the cross hairs. Similar prob with scopes on my Contender barrels.

P95,
Ya, red dots are nice, they are not as difficult to get on and hold on targets as scopes are, but I can't use them :(
ID F&G says no electronics attached to a firearm when big game hunting :(
Since I might take an elk or a deer w/ this 44 that means no red dots for me.

ID F&G says no electronics attached to a firearm when big game hunting Hey ID .. I can see now - your choice is limited. That sux.
Does the F&G explain why they have this rule? I mean ... either they work or they don't ... not as if they are ''inferior'' .... and a spare 2032 batt' is always a must! Can't see any EPA aspects to this either.
Oh well .... strange one that!

I don't know thier reasoning, but they are butts about it.
Our F&G is ran by a bunch of old timer, traditionalists fudds.
No electronics on bows, ML rifles can only use cap or flint, no 209s.
Our rules suck in that regards, about 20 years in the past.
