I recieved a letter from one Fred Upton, 6th District, Michigan.

The main body of the letter deals with H.R. 153, which I know probably does not stand a chance. It also makes mention of the AWB.

"I am a strong supporter of the Second Amendment, the provision added to the Constitution ensuring Americans of their RIGHT to keep and bear arms"

Good to know.

Written at the end of the letter in blue felt pen: "I worked to make sure that the Brady Bill exempted states (like Michigan) that had a point of purchase system"

Question: What is this "exemption"? Michigan requires you to register your gun and get a purchase permit... so how are we exempt?

Some states preform their own internal BG check and do not call the Federal govt.

The state of Michigan is just a little ahead of the federal government on the path toward socialism.

Michigan's so-called "safety inspection" registration scheme was instituted after the 1967 Detroit race riots.

Standing Wolf.

The law in Michigan was passed in 1934. So far as impacting crime it didn't work then either.

The Brady Bill required a ten-day waiting period for handgun purchases. States (like Michigan) that had instant background checks in place were exempted from the ten-day wait.
