I feel stupid for asking this question but I will anyway. How do I get the Baynet off of my Mauser? I put it on just because I wanted to see what it would look like and now I can't get it off. This is especially bad because now it is to long to fit in the safe. Thaks.

There is generally a button on the end of the handle that will disengage the lock. Press the button into the handle and slide the bayonet off forward.

If it won't come off easily, it may not be the proper Bayo for that rifle.
What kind of Mauser is it, and what Bayo?

Ive seen some you have to smack with a hammer and a punch to get off. They all look so similar.

I finally got it off. The rifle has been stored in some kind of greese over the years cosmolinr, I think. Anyways the little button was about petrified with it. I pushed hard enough finally and got it off. THanks for your help.

Don't feel bad.
I did that with my Mosin-Nagant when I first got it.
I had a hell of a time getting that socket bayonet off of it.
I had to hold the rifle butt between my feet, and twist with both hands while pushing the latch.
Despite the care that I took, I still ended up with a little blood for my trouble.
Haven't made that mistake again.
