Well i have recieved my re-up bonus and i bought me a new rifle. i bought a DPMS lr-308 with the 24" ss barrel which i am sure that all of you have seen. I think i did pretty good on the price, i got it for $950 out the door, brand new. now here is where i need the help; i have already decided what scope that i am gonna put on it, the super sniper 10x42, all i need to know is what kind of scope mounts do i need to use on the flat top picantty rail, anything special or regular scope mounts? recommendations very much welcome. any help would be much appreciatted thanks!

I would recommend you mount a platform on top of the receiver 'Picatinny' platform.
In addition to raising the scope to a more natural eye level, the platforms provide more rigididty to the receiver.
Because of the size of the scope you wish to use, I would recommend one of the extended platform with a multiple notch ring platform.
Yes that means a 'Picatinney' platform but I really hate the word 'Picatinney'.

I am not going to recommend a specific brand but I will recommend you buy one of the platforms made of steel and avoid the aluminum versions.
All of the steel versions I have worked with have been very well made.
The aluminum ones much less so.
