SW, destructive devices are a category of weapons created as a part of the Gun Control Act of 1968 and are regulated like machineguns, short barrelled rifles, short barrelled shotguns, or suppressors under the National Firearms Act of 1934. They are as legal to own as machineguns, depending upon the laws of your state.

How about black powder large bore cannon? Like 15 or 20 pound naval guns or 10-12 pound wheeled field guns etc. Are they exempt beacuse they are balckpowder?
