I see photos of those fancy scope mounts attached to the frame on custom automatics, but I'm unaware of anyone who does such work. Who does that kind of custom work? I'd like to have it done.

JoeHatley April 21, 2006, 11:08 AM Depending on the gun/mount combo, almost any local smith should be able to easily fix you up. I've you have never had optics mounted on a semi-auto before, you may want to consider trying one of the several "no-gunsmith" mounts available, before having your gun modified. This SW1911 is a very low serial number, so I didn't want to have the dust cover drilled and tapped. I went with the grip replacement style. http://www.iowatelecom.net/~hatley/sw1911_l_ud.jpg www.brownells.com is a good place to look for all sorts of different mounts. Good Luck... Joe OH25shooter April 21, 2006, 03:13 PM Hmmm, that's an interesting mount. Mine is a PC 952. I checked with the S&W PC tech and he said they do not mount scopes. However, he did mention the type where the mount is attached to the grip (not the slide). I'll bet it's simular to the style on your SW1911. I'll check Brownells. Thanks for posting a photo. JoeHatley April 21, 2006, 03:31 PM I went with a slide mount Docter Optic on my 952. Nice set up, but they may be getting hard to find. www.speedshooterspecialties.com has a nice selection of BME mounts for the 952. Joe
