Choose my Next Gun!

So I'm thinking about making one more purchase this year. Right now I own 2 USPs (a .45 full and 9mm compact) and a CZ SP-01. Love all three of the guns. Like I said, I'm looking to buy one more...but I have no idea what. :o

Here's my criteria:

-No plastic guns (my USPs fill that niche quite nicely...but I don't think I need a 3rd).

-Must be 9mm or .45...although with the way gas prices are burning holes in my pockets, 9mm might be a more "economical" choice at the moment. :D

-Looking to spend maybe 650 max.

Here's my short list:

-CZ P0-1
-CZ 75B
-Sig P226
-Maybe a reasonable 1911
-Beretta 92

Most important things to me are reliability and then FUN. :D Any gun would be mostly for range work and HD.

I know these threads are a dime a dozen, but I always love playing with other people's money myself, so I thought I'd return the favor. ;)

The Sig is currently tops on my list because I don't own a Sig product...and the CPOs seem like very good deals to me.

Please feel free to comment on anything I have listed, or make some suggestions of your own!

(And yes I know...pick the one that fits my hand best, etc.) ;)

"reliability and then FUN"

I've bought Sigs, they're okay, HK tops it. but since you do not want a P2000, I'd pick the 92FS. :D

Ah...good call kngflp. I've looked at getting one of those in the past; however a common complaint about them seems to be problems feeding hollowpoint rounds...that makes me a little leery.

It sounds as if you've got the moderns covered. If you are looking for something to enjoy thats steel maybe you should consider a p-08, p-38/p-1, lahti m-40 or some other "vintage" pistol. They are a lot of fun, but i wouldn't suggest running millions of rds through them. (That's what the moderns are for) The luger to me still seems like the most fun:rolleyes: It's just so classic the look, the feel, the action, the smell. Just kidding there isn't any smell but I just needed to add something. It should be obvious that I'm a 9mm person but I will own a 1911 someday because I just have to. And as my friend always says "We don't NEED gas" I'd buy the rnds instead.

SIG, SIG, SIG!

The CPO's are a great deal. Can't go wrong with a P226.

Since you don't want any more H&K's, go with the SIG. It's another top notch firearm. You won't regret it. I have SIGs and H&K's both and I love them.

Sig 220. Accurate, Reliable, and if I couldn't have a USP, it would be that gun. It won't be as good as your USP, but nothing really is.

Can't go wrong with a SIG P226 (I own a P225, and P220 9mm, and I use to own a P226ST 9mm- all are/were accurate and 100% reliable).

A Beretta 92 is also very nice, but to get a good trigger you'll want to replace it's hammer spring with their Elite's "D" hammer spring. (I use to own a 92 Vertec Inox and a 92 Steel I SA, both were accurate and 100% reliable.)

I'd also strongly recommend a CZ 75B Stainless. I just picked one up about a month ago, and I'm very impressed with it, especially considering it's price.

+1 on Sig.

I have a P239 in .40 S&W that I use for CCW and I absolutely love it. I also have an HK USP .45acp full size that I also love so I know how great an HK is. Although, I do have to say that my Sig is not only just as fun to shoot as my HK but is also more accurate.

Another great suggestion. I also have one of these and I certainly am not unhappy with it.

You've got a few nice, usefull guns already, a compact 9, a midsized 9, and a fullsized .45, all double action (or DAO). What you don't have is:

A single actioned 1911 priced in the mid-range (springfield, fullsize loaded or Mil-spec)

I'd say get an RIA 1911 (~$300) or a Taurus PT92 or CZ75B (~$360) 9mm and save the extra money for ammo and gas!

Get some Houge grips with finger gooves and some extra 17 rd mags. You will not be sorry.

You have the best already - USP.
If you are considering cost, go with CZ, whichever model you like best. They are inexpensive, accurate, reliable, nice to use, nice to look at. Sig is sexier, but Sig service sucks right now and they cost more.
