just how does on find out what "generation" SAA revolver one has....mine is a 1873 45LC "cattlemen gunfighter"

FIRST: 1873 - 1941
SECOND: 1956 - 1974
THIRD: 1976 - CURRENT
Except for the charge holes in your cylinder and the bore in the barrel your SA sixgun bears little nor any resemblance to a COLT SAA sixgun of any generation if you really take a close look at both close up and side-by-side.

You have an Italian copy of a Colt SAA-probably Uberti-and if you check carefully, somewhere it'll be stamped "made in Italy". -Asa
