My dad and I recently inherited an AR-15 Sporter, which hadn't been fired for more than 20 yrs, from one of his patients who's husband is on his deathbed. We field stripped it and following the instructions we found on the internet, cleaned and oiled the rifle so it was 60% smoother than before. Is there anything else we need to do before we go shooting? As far as I can tell, it's a nice gun that moves smoothly. Thanks for your help.

You may just want to function test it, if you have not done so already.
Be sure the safety works, and that the disconnector works. You don't want a gun to go full-auto when you're not expecting it.
In case you don't know how to do this:
1. Make sure gun is clear.
2. Pull bolt back and let it go into battery.
3. Put safety on
4. Pull trigger. Nothing should happen
5. Now take safety off, pull trigger and hold it down. Hammer should fall.
6. With tigger still held down, manually cycle bolt.
7. Let go of trigger after bolt cycled.
8. Pull trigger again. Hammer should fall. If it does not, then it followed bolt when cycled. Bad Ju-Ju.
9. If all ok, go shoot rifle.
