I'm starting out loading 25-06 for the first time and am looking for some good hunting bullet recommendations. I'm working up two primary loads - one for coyotes and t'other for deer and small hogs. I've bought a couple of boxes of Hornady 100gr SPs and 120gr HPs, but (other than punching paper) have no clue as to how they'll work out in real life.

So who's had good success with what?

in my 25-06, i've had really good performance (on deer and antelope) w/ 117 sierra pro-hunters, and 120 sierra gamekings. on the same critters, i've had disastrous results w/ 100 and 115 nosler ballistic tips.

this summer i'll work up a dedicated antelope load. the bullets i picked up for the task are 100 grain hornadys and sierras. whichever shoots better will be what i use w/ confidence as to end-result performance.

Between the 117gr and 120gr Sierras, is there a demonstrable difference as to which one holds together better?

i've never had troubles w/ either one - both have exited everything, so no bullet to recover and weigh.

in theory, the 117's should be a little tougher being as they are a flat base.
