I don't think so. What holds the handguards on is in a different position.
I could be wrong, others will chime in soon.

Nuts. Well I hope it would. I like the saiga but mostly for the furniture. I would buy one but I want a pistol grip and Iv heard the PG conversions are expensive. VEPRs are just too expensive for now (probably forever if they get made again) and thats pretty much the only other AK with the furniture that I like let alone that has a good track record.

The Saiga handguard will not fit a regular AK without modification to your AK. The way the Saiga handguard attaches, at least the .308 version, is the gas block has an extra long pin that engages with a slot in the handguard. The rear has a tongue that is inserted under the rear sight block. There is a threaded insert that a screw goes into. This screw hole is located under the front trunnion on the receiver.
So to fit this to a regular AK you would need to replace one of the pins on the gasblock with one that would extend about 3/16" on each side of the gas block. Then you would need to drill a hole on the bottom of the receiver for the handguard retaining screw. Lastly you would need to remove the stock lower handguard retainer. To remove the retainer intact you would have to press off the front sight base and the gas block. If you were wanting to remove it without pressing the sight base and the gas block you can use a dremel and cut it off. Also you would need to replace the gas tube with one from an AMD-63, cut off the retainers off the existing tube or find a tube from a Saiga that someone discarded.

I do a lot of Saiga and Vepr business. Good condition Veprs are going for around $600-$700 right now.
I can do a Tromix converted Saiga, with fixed stock in the low $600s. This is with welding, and polishing, the old trigger holes, and refinishing the gun. With ACE folding stocks are in the mid-upper $600 range.

Wow. Is that the cheapest they go? Could a VEPR handguard fit a regular AK?
I like how the handguards cover alot of the fore end of the gun not leaving this part exposed...

Are they other AKs with handguards that cover that exposed part besides the Saiga, (very expensive) krinkov, and the VEPR? or other handguards that will kit AKs that cover that? Railed or not.

Oh there is cheaper. But we only make good stuff. :) I'll put my converted Saigas against any AK in the world from any maker.
An Ultimak rail system will cover more, and are available for AKs.

If you are half way handy, you can do it yourself. Go to www.saiga12.com's forums for directions.
I sell base saigas for $290. If you get the cheapest US parts, there is about another $100 there. Do the work yourself, and there you go.
