The first picture is my first gun on 2/9/03, The second picture is the guns I have as of today. Does anyone else find their collection to be growing this fast or faster? And for me I still love shooting, but I'm almost to the point that obtaining the guns and seeing the collection grow is almost as addictive if not more than the actual shooting of them. Three of the guns in the picture I haven't even shot yet. Anyone find this happening to them?

Thats not a collection, but its a pretty fair start. Nice taste for the most part too, I would say.

My first gun was December of 2004........the other day I bought gun number 25.

Thats 25 guns in 1 year and 5 months....or about 1.5 guns a month.

I guess that statement Nic Cage made about 550 million total guns in worldwide circulation didn't take into account some y'all's collections! ;)

Too much money. I have about 1/2 dozen and can't think of anything more I need.

M1 Garand
12 ga. BPS
XD9
S&W 22A
Sig P232
Marlin Model 60.

I'd like a 1903 Springfield some day..and maybe a P226 and a 1911. But I don't need them and don't drool over them enough to spend the money on them right now.

In 2003 I had half a dozen various guns for carry and house gun. But in early 2004 fell in love with almost every .22rf handgun I ran into. Hit 50 a month ago so decided it was time to thin the herd. Have sold a couple, and added only one, and getting ready to run some more at online auctions tomorrow. Settling down to collecting unusual Fialas and Brownie handguns, and ALL Gevarm .22rf rifles.

Got my first 22 in 1981 at 6 and then my beloved Topper Jr. .410 a year or so later. Got my first knife well before that. I'd say I was about four. A knife shaped like a truck that said keep on truckin hehehe (My pop was a trucker of course) Been collecting guns and knives ever since. I have some really nice stuff but I am saving up now because I want to add a real "crown jewel" to both collections. I mean not just something nice but one of a kind. I saw a Colt 45 not long ago with Rattlesnake Skin grips and engraving that you would not believe with a beautifil enscribed box. 1 of 100 made, individually numbered. I wont even mention the price.

Ha, amatuers. :D
I bought the big safe 2 years ago so I would have plenty of room.
Then I got married to another gun nut.
The gun stores around here know us by name and really we need another safe.
The other question is, how much ammo have you gotten?;)

Oh, and a gun habit and quicken are just a bad mix. You get to see in brutal detail how you spent 25% of your gross salary last year on guns. And last year was a very good year.

Realmswalker -- 18 guns in 13 years? That's OK but only about 1.5 guns per year. It's not really that much growth if you think about it.

My history can be broken into 5 distinct phases.

High School (79-83) -- 1 handgun, 2 shotguns, 4 rifles -- 7 total
College (83-88) -- 1 handgun, 3 shotguns, 5 rifles -- 9 total
Post College (88-93) -- 7 handguns, 3 shotguns, 9 rifles -- 19 total
The Lean Years (93-01: got married, went temporarily insane and thought shooting was behind me) -- 4 handguns, 3 shotguns, 5 rifles -- 12 total
Today (02-06: rediscovered shooting and got my C&R) -- 17 handgun, 5 shotguns, 28 rifles -- 53 total

Imelda Marcos had the same problem, only she collected shoes.

My tastes tend to be for higher end collectibles, at $3K-to-$4K each 1-2 per year is the norm.

We did warn you about that. Right?

I am sure we did. We must have.....

I thought we did.

If not, then....um.....sorry.

Well nobody warned me. Like a good addict I do everything I like compulsively. I've gone from one 12 gauge for HD to 13 in 6 months and my wife has 3. I need to make a few go away (to make more room for things I like better). Shameless plug check the classifieds.

age 15: Dad bought me a 10/22.

age 19: Bought an SKS.

21st birthday(big turning point,I could buy handguns now):Bought a Beretta 92.

Today,4 years later,I have 6 rifles,2 shotguns,and 8 handguns. So that's a about a gun every 3 months or so,because I've sold a few that didn't turn out to be what I expected.

And yes,I could keep one 1911 (I've got 4) and shoot the snot out of it,but "collecting" is as much fun as shooting.
