Is there a way I can get a sling on my rifle without having to install swivels in the stock?

There are some shotgun slings that are made for guns without swivels. Can't remember the manufacturer. Check Cabelas or Bass Pro's Outdoor World.

I have been told there are slings for black powder rifles like that. I haven't looked too hard though. I need one for my 45/70.

Around here some place, I've got a leather sling that has a leather covered, spring clip for the forestock and a strap pouch for the butt. I think it was for a specific .22, but it has been eons. I don't know if they're still available. It came with the rifle, as I recall.

Here are a few. They are often made for muzzleloaders, but there's no reason you can't use them on any long gun.
