My Kimber Custom Tle 11 1911 with 16" barrel but w/folded stock its only 23'' so I had my gunsmith pin the folding stock instead of a adding to the barrel .
10+1 but I will get the 40rd round mag and it will still be a lite weight .45 rifle.Shoots 185 gr hollow points with ease leaves nice big holes .It may not look it but it is solid feeling very fun shooter.

The 26" legal minimum length is with a 16" barrel and the stock EXTENDED. It can be shorter with it folded. The UZI semi carbines were only 24" with a 16" barrel and the stock retracted and they were/are legal.
I've seen 16" barrels, but who made the stock?
I've been considering the 40-round drums but everyone seems to be backordered on them. I know of no one who has had one for a reliability review. I would like a drum for my .45ACP carbine:

I wouldn't say a "bunch". I already had the frame. I was looking for a top end when I found the CCU at a gun show pretty cheap. The factory sight rail is around $65.00. That is a BSA red dot from Wal-mart, about $25.00. The CAR stock is a China copy, $25.00 from Sportsman's Guide. I added the stock after the AWB sunset. It is 28.5" overall if anyboby wants to know. The vertical grip was about $9.00 off Ebay, and the rail is a standard Weaver base I screwed and epoxied to the forearm. I did retap the front sight hole and added an XS 24/7 AR15 tritium post, around $60.00.
It is a fun gun, very reliable and accurate. I mostly only use Ed Brown and Wilson 10-rounders in it, but all the 7-8 rounders for my 1911's fit also. Most of the parts I've added a little at a time. I know I could have an AR or something for the money, but I like it. Kicks about like a .22mag even with 230grn +P's. It is my vehicle gun and my "things go bump in the night" gun.
It doesn't seem like a lot of money when it has been stretched out over the last 6 years.

so, he didn't need to pin the stock?
and can remove the pin?

I can't find the exact regs at the moment, but as I understand it, the overall length is measured with the stock extended. This makes the overall of the UZI carbine somewhere at 31", so it is legal, even with a length of 24" folded.
If you are a member of TFL, members HKMP5SD and Shaggy might know the exact regs.
EDIT: The barrel must still be 16" or more. Otherwise, it is a Short Barreled Rifle(SBR).

Where did you get the CAR adaptor for the Mech Tech...do they sell them or did you adapt it yourself?

I made it in the shop at the plant I work in. I found a piece of tubing that would just slip fit over the receiver tube, then swaged one end down to fit the threaded nut that comes with the CAR stock. Then drilled, tapped, and bolted the whole thing together.
do they sell them or did you adapt it yourself?
I sent pics and specs to Mechtech. Apparently they aren't interested.

"A short barreled rifle is a rifle (which is defined as a shoulder
fired, rifled bore firearm) with a barrel length of less than 16",
or an overall length of less than 26", or any weapon made from a
rifle falling into the same length parameters (like a pistol made
from a rifle). In measuring barrel length you do it from the
closed breech to the muzzle, see 27 CFR sec. 179.11. To measure
overall length do so along, "the distance between the extreme ends
of the weapon measured along a line parallel to the center line of
the bore." 27 CFR sec. 179.11. On a folding stock weapon you
measure with the stock extended, provided the stock is not readily
detachable, and the weapon is meant to be fired from the shoulder."

So I would say that, yes, the stock can be unpinned on the Kimber.:D

I got the link from members at TFL. They are very knowledgeable. Try again on their new NFA (formerly "Full-auto") and ask them for opinions. Like I said before, members HKMP5SD and Shaggy know a lot about NFA weapons(which yours isn't) and what is and isn't legal. I was concerned about the overall on my Mechtech because I was originally going to put a folder on it. HKMP5Sd is the one who led me to the link with the overall length.
Heck, post it again with the link in the thread.
EDIT: How "readily removable" is that stock? Looks like it is pinned in to me, correct?

Searched TFL for your old post but couldn't find it. I did find a similiar thread where a pic like yours was psoted with a "3" barrel extension" your gunsmith had added. It isn't in this picture on this thread. What's up with that? Is it removeable, or is this an older picture?

smince old picture, removed the brake and found out that in Oregon I can carry with folded stock. OK to shoot as long as stock extended is 26" .
