what would be a good deal on a LNIB Glock 19 with night sights? not sure what the market is on them. is this something that would make a good carry piece? or are they basic shooters?
thanks!

The Glock 19 is a midsize frame so it's a perfectly good carry piece. For pricing www.kyimports.com/glock.htm has them mint condition 3rd gen frame for $440 w/ 1x 15 rd mag, or used 2nd gen framew/ 2x 10 rd mags for $370; both with night sights. These guys seem to have some of the best prices I've seen. You can also buy a heavily used pistol and pay to ship it back to Glock who will refurb it for free. There are so many Glocks on the used market that you're gonna be hard pressed to find a better value in a pistol that size for the money. If you don't like Glocks you can always download the catalog from www.cdnninvestments.com for some good SIG pricing. Either way I think you'll enjoy a G19, one of the best all around pistols made IMO.

read your comments on the 19 then met with it this afternoon. it begged me to bring it home, so i did. the guy said clean and it is. $400 and it has some bells and whistles the night sights i haven't seen before they are a cross between fiber optic and tritium? way cool aftermarket guide rod the whole pile. my little hand like it. good call. thanks again. will take it on a lunch date tommorrow and see if we are going to be a match. thanks again! :)

Your sights might be the new TFO - Tritium Fiber Optic - from Tru-glo. From what I've read the FO picks up well in transitional light where its a bit dark for regular sights but not dark enough for the tritium to really shine. Let us know what you think of the sights I'm curious to hear. I've never seen the need to mess with a Glock guide rod, but the guys over at www.glocktalk.com might have different opinions; if it's still reliable keep the cool aftermarket unit in there. Is it a 2nd gen frame, or the 3rd gen with light rail and finger grooves? Either way I think you got a heck of a deal at $400 for a clean G19 w/ night sights. Glad to see that it fits your hand well also. I'm lookin forward to seein your range report from your lunch date, so let us know how you shoot her.

i am in love again. i thought that i would never be a Glocky. I WAS WRONG. that hurt. ok where to start? the sights are crazy! the TFO sights as ugaarguy has informed me are great, they draw the light in even on a cloudy day. i would love these on everything i have. for those with smaller hands this thing fits like a glove. i ran about 200 wal-mart wins through it without any problems. at first i thought it shot a little left till i realized it was me and a little push. the 9 lb. pull is a little much for me. after a 1 inch right adjustment on my part it was covering a fifty cent piece at 7 yards. the twist for me is a little left and up so it will take a little getting used to for second shot. it is the 3rd Gen and the finger groves that helped me quite a bit. this is a keeper, it's not my Sig 226 40cal but for a smaller lighter firearm i think it should be up on the list for a keeper for those who want a great 9mm in a smaller carry. i was sad however that she went with me to the range and then left with another man. But she is going to use him and be back in my hands next week. I'm having a light trigger group installed and maybe that will solve the push. let you know how it turns out. thanks for listening.

If you have a 9 lb trigger pull, something's not right. The standard is 5 lbs, with 3.5 lbs being optional.

I have two thoughts on the trigger pull:
1) It is the standard 5.5 lb unit but feels heavier since you're used to the conventional hammer and sear engagement of the SIG
2) It actually does have the 8lb "NY" trigger installed by the previous owner as a paranoid anti liability law suit measure for a carry gun.

Glad to hear that she fits your hand, glad to hear that the sights live up to the hype I've heard, and glad to hear that she shoots nice & tight for ya.

I recently purchased a slightly used Glock 19 with Trijicon night sights, 2 magazines, and the extended mag release for $450. If you can shoot the weapon before you buy it that's great! I bought mine from the owner of the range and have been happy with it. Good luck.
