Ok guys...

I want to either refinish my SKS or have it refinished by someone/place.

I have seen pictures of what that Gun Kote can do and it looks awesome.

Then I saw this: http://www.cruffler.com/trivia-April01-tools.html
In the "teach me about FALs" thread. They mention a place that does a very nice job professionally refinishing gun parts and link to their website. However, the link takes you somewhere else.... as if that website no longer exists.

Does anyone know about this place or of another like it?

They said it is $50 to refinish the gun plus shipping, I thought that sounded good to me VS. the $30 can of Gun Kote and then trying to do it amature style myself.

Anyone?

How comfortable are you with taking that SKS completely apart do it's smallest components and reassembling it again? The latter is the harder part! ;)

To do the job right, that's what you need to do whether you Gunkote, parkerize or just about any other finish. Then once you get it all apart, you'll need to lightly sandblast everything, then degrease thoroughly.

For a quality job, prep is 85% of the work. Applying the finish is the easy part.

Check the marketplace on www.falfiles.com. There's a few there that do very nice work with refinishing rifles. Consider having parkerizing done for a good base, then Gunkote on top of that for a very tough and good looking finish.

What kind of SKS is it?

Yeah thats what I was thinking....
I'd rather pay someone a little more and get it done right and not have to worry about it.

Its a Yugo.

Yea, a blonde stocked Yugo would probably look really nice Gunkoted flat black.

Gunkote is a great finish and more resistant to moisture than bluing, but you do realize that you could probably just buy a whole 'nother nicer condition Yugo for what it would cost to refinish the one you have don't you?

Well its just got a new ATI stock on it. I want to have the metal parts refinished to make it look real nice and to be bullet proof.
