I'm ordinarily a Remington person, but I'm considering others.

I'm seriously considering buying a 22-250 for this years upcoming hunting seasons. I have a Model 7 Youth Model .260 that I love. It is lightweight, short and very easy to carry. I have absolutely nothing to complain about with this gun. I love it. I had a Savage '06 as my first deer rifle and had major trouble with the safety on it. It actually went off on me one time. Should I consider buying a Ruger, Savage, Browning or Winchester at all? Pro's and Cons to each.

no such thing as a bad gun,
you just end up liking some better than others
I have a rem, kimber, savage, browing and styer. I like them all, my wife perfers the browning and the kimber.
Bang for the buck, the Savage.
Pretty wood, the Browning
Buy one shoot it. Love it? Keep it!
Don't love it? Sell it and buy another.
Or keep it and buy another:eek:
Sometimes it seems to me that (gun)people spend lots of time AGONIZING over a $500 purchase,
but don't think twice about a DVD burner for the computer, or a new computer ($2000) or that new car...
Now if we're talking buying a custom or a Weatherby; or a special purpose gun with little resale value or other potential use, that's a different issue.

Stick with Remington.
That way you don't have to buy another hat with a different logo

How much do you want to spend?
Consider taking an existing 700-style action, having it trued, and then rebarreled (in whatever caliber fits the boltface...) as a switch barrel rifle. Takes me maybe 10 minutes to swap barrels, and two shots to sight in...

Get a Kimber, I have never regretted it.
Shoots like a dream, and purty too.

Besides the hat/logo thing ( which is a good point, when you think about it! ) , having TWO Remington rifles would be advantageous in that you'd be familiar with them in all respects.
Your Model 7 in .260 Rem. is a pretty good bigger game rifle, and the Model 700 VS or one of the other heavy bbl. versions in .22-250 Rem. would make a nice companion for the little rifle as a 'critter gitter'.
I've been working on my own 'gaggle' of Remingtons and it's fun to look at them sitting there on the floor like a family...;)
Have fun shopping. :D

I really like Ruger rifles as far as the major American companies go and Winchester right behind them. I'd place Remington and Savage behind them but the Savages are excellent for the price.
The Kimbers, Coopers and Sakos are very very nice but you pay for them.
In between, the Tikkas are excellent if you can find the older models in the caliber you are interested in.

And they are worth it. I've owned just about every major brand of rifle over the years but the ones that are here permanently are the Sako and Cooper.

If you want to step up a couple of rungs in quality and pride of ownership, go with Sako. They're more expensive, but you're likely to still have them when you're old and gray!

I have never heard of Tikka until I posted my question up. I've been doing some reasearch and found that they're an exceptional rifle, especially when you see the price. I'm seriously thinking of the Tikka M595 7MM WSM if there is such a thing available. Input????

I'm also a loyal Remmy rifle owner. However, if I were in the market now, I'd buy a Tikka. You get a Sako match barrel, (free-floated) adjustable trigger, and detachable mag. They're tackdrivers.

Tikka is only offering 270WSM and 300WSM for 2003. No 7WSM.
